Suggested diets? How much food per serving? "The basics"

Recommended Posts

Not even joking. I tried a search but came up empty. Everything is so specific. I'm hoping someone can help with more general info.

In a nutshell, I was banded in December 2009. Lost my job and insurance, couldn't afford follow ups and never had the band filled. Gained 60+ pounds.

Finally filed and today is last day of "mushies" before getting back to regular food.

My new surgeon told me I should get full pretty quickly but didn't follow up with suggested menus.

I know I should eat protien first, then veggies, starch last, but any ideas, suggested meal plans, etc? How much does it take to get a person full? I know everyone is different.

I recognize I sound like an idiot, but it's been SO LONG and we never went over the basics. Just 'eat slowly, chew a lot, no liquids 60 minutes before or after eating'.

Any help or links to other resources would be helpful.

Also, what do you guys do for "mouth hunger"? I'm full in my stomach, but in my head/mouth, I'm ready to eat a cow. Advice would be great. thanks again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
