I was banded 6/2/11 op weight 231 current weight 179. Yes, I have lost 52 lbs in 3.5 months... Here is my dilema- I was banded in Mexico and had 2 ccs put in during surgery in my 10cc band... Fast foward, I got stuck BAD 6 weeks after banding... Became REALLY swollen, almost closed shut. Had to go to the ER, and had all the 2ccs taken out. NOW 7 weeks later I am Completely unfilled and STILL feel too tight. I gurrgle all of the time, and Slime everyday! But I stick it out, (not as bad as it sounds. Its tolerable) because I am still losing weight. But I can barely eat food without PBing. Soooo, when I get to my goal weight 145 how do I stop losing the weight? I have considered having it removed... What would you do? So confused. :/

It may be "tolerable" to you but I can guarantee 100% that it's not tolerable to your GI tract nor your esophagus. You need to go back to your doctor and figure something out. Maybe your band slipped or something. Daily PBing/slimming is not healthy and in all honesty it can do very serious damage if you continue to 'tolerate' it. Living with the band SHOULD NOT involve daily PBing. Go back to a doctor.

I did and have gone to the Doctor. I had a Barium Swallow test done and an upper GI. NO SLIPPAGE. He said " Some people just dont do well with the band" So there is nothing wrong with the band, just my body....

Then consider removal? Dunno. Either way your situation is not healthy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
