Lost the Baby :(

Recommended Posts

Well, everyone, this pregnancy was not meant to be. My husband and I were visiting Denver this week, and I started to have spotting and cramping, so I went to the ER. Ultrasound showed no heartbeat, and my blood work was pretty funky.

I've had problems with PCOS and hypothyroidism since I was a teenager, so I know that it was related to that, even though I'm ten million times healthier than I used to be. My progesterone was too low to sustain a healthy pregnancy, and I had too much testosterone in my blood; typical of PCOS.

Anyhoo, I'm seeing my regular doctor here in Oregon and she's going to put me on a progesterone supplement and give me supplements to regulate the amount of testosterone in my blood. I will also going to be taking Low estrogen birth control pills so that this doesn't happen again until I'm healthy and ready!

This is sad, but I feel like everything happens for a reason, and the whole experience was amazing, eye opening, and a true learning experience that has brought me and my husband closer together. I feel like it was a blessing even if it ended badly. We are armed now with knowledge and hope.

Thanks everyone for your support! It really means a lot to me. Onward with my journey towards optimum health!

Roz, I'm really sorry for your loss. But as you say, things happen for a reason. As your weight loss journey continues, and you get even more healthy, here's hoping you have the successful pregnancy you want. Good luck!

Dave

I lost a child due to miscarriage myself. It is a tough thing. Even 16 years later I still think who that child would have become. You have my deepest sympathy.

I, too, have suffered a miscarriage and know the loss. You have the right attitude because there was a reason for this. I went on 2 have 2 healthy boys who are now teenagers! I wonder if the lost child was a girl or boy and what it would be like to have 3 children

God bless you and your husband. I will put you on my prayer list.

Although I did not have my band, I did have a miscairraige(is that how you spell it?) and an early birth at 20 wks and 5 days in which the baby did not make it because she was underdeveloped. It sure does suck, but just remember to keep up with your positive attitude. For me it helps to have a momento of some kind to remember them by. The hospital I was at gave us a keepsake box of her feet prints and such. Good luck in the future, I am sure things will go well for you!

Like reading a page from my own diary...I'm so sorry. I tried for 4 years before I was actually able to bring my first daughter into the world...I will tell you what my doctor told me..........."if you got pregnant once, then you can get pregnant again" it was true. Its better than those that never are able to concive. Keep trying to loose weight and to be the healthiest you can be....it does make a difference.

I just hate that my daughter at 17 has been given the same diagnosis. And was told children would be difficult........I told her that what they told me...and that God gets to make thise decisions.

Good Luck

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
