Hi,

I started my "normal" food this past weeks at roughly two weeks post op per my Dr. I think I got "stuck" but instead of slimeing or whatever....i got uber nauseous. The food (meat), eventually went through and the feeling went away. I chewed it plenty, it was already in super small pieces to begin.Has this happened to anyone else? Just curious

Was it a first time for this food after being banded? Most people develop intolerances to certain foods after banding, for example I can no longer eat bananas they make me very sick, I get extremely nauseous, and then I have diarrhea. I know they aren't stuck, cause when I get stuck- I have this awful pain in my stomach, I start to overproduce saliva, and I get this feeling of regurgitation- like the food is already making it's way back up. I either PB it up, or it passes and then I feel fine.

That's how it works for me, every time I eat... So I have to rinse it down with warm tea or lukewarm Water. When it passes. Then I can continue to eat.

Otherwise 2-3 tablespoons top for me ! That's not even sensible to try to eat.

So my Dr. told me if Water works for you, then Drink it. So I do... Otherwise it would feel like a Heart Attack,, Very Painful...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
