i WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE WAS EXPERIENCING BACK AND SHOULDER PAINS. i AM 3 DAYS POST SURGERY. aLSO WHEN i SWALLOW I FEEL LIKE I'M GULPING AND I HAVE TO BURP ALOT. I KNOW IM NOT GETTING ALL OF MY FLUIDS AND Proteins IN IM JUST TRYING NOT TO GET DEHYDRATED.

Hi KAYMAC32,

I had surgery with Dr. Bagnato on August 19th, 2011. To answer your question regarding back/shoulder pain. Yes, I had the shoulder pain too but not the back pain. I was constanly asking my family to massage my left shoulder. I am 2 weeks out from surgery and it has now gone away. I hope that you get to feeling better soon! :)

I am 6 days post-surgery and have had lots of shoulder pain (really more of an ache) but not back pain. They told me it was related to gas and taking Gas-X has helped in my case. Had lots of gas issues but have almost all gone away.

Watch the dehydration! Hang in there.

the pain is coming from the gas the inserted in your stomach during surgery. It goes away soon. Walking can help to discipate the gas. Also you can take Gas X if you need to.

I have back pain too, right between my shoulder blades. I think it's gas; seems like at times I have quite a bit of burping/belching too. I don't have as much discomfort as I did right after surgery though. What you are describing is normal.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
