Newly banded 1st day post op

Recommended Posts

i just got banded yesterday. It took forever for them to take me back. My surgery was scheduled at 2:00 checked in at 11:30 had an IV in since 12 noon got taken back to surgery at 4 pm, was rushed out of recovery at about 7 pm they needed room for the next patient. In super pain maybe where my port is ? Doctor nor doctors office called to check on me. Been alternating between advil liquid caps and childrens meltaways, Did the hideous that I should not have done and added 3/4 of a banana to my Protein Shake this morning, Finally found out through hospital nurse I should not have done that because we are taking care of the stitches. Nausea was horrible until I had my Protein shake my stomach finally settled but massive headache remained. I have a patch behind my ear for nausea. Any reassuring postive feedback is welcomed. Thank You.

It gets better everyday. Keep as active as you can. Walk around your house. Get up every hour during the day. That expels the gas which is most likely your pain. you only want Clear Liquids and the Protein Shakes. broth, sugar free popsicles and Jello are your friend right now. And lots of Water.< /p>

I Took a warm shower. First one since getting banded feel a little better and noticed that the warm shower hitting my belly felt really really soothing! I drank original tea tonight and seemed to burn going down didnt finish it either. My belly wants consistency which is tortureous on this liquid Fluid diet'

My goodness, your doctor doesn't sound very patient friendly. Mine has been wonderful. They gave me a prescription for codine for pain. It helped alot. I took that for a couple days. I did stay in the hospital over night as well. Be careful what you add to your Protein Drinks. Keep to liquids only. You def need time to heal. They pain will get better. After about a week, I felt really good. Congrats on getting banded.

I had surgery on Tuesday and the gas has been so bad and so painful. Just started taking the Protein and I cant tell if the rumbling in my stomach is due to hunger or gas. I'm going to try the advice given to you and hopefully it works. I hope that you feel better soon. Everyone here is so nice and helpful with advice.

I never had incision pain, peanut. My gas pain lasted about 3 days and then started going away pretty fast. I never got it in my chest or shoulders, just in the stomach area the more active I was, the faster the gas left. I didn't like getting up every hour, but now I'm glad I did.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
