You may be really close, but you should at least feel something, I would think. I suggest that you not wait until you get to the docs office next month, but that you call now and ask to have your fill done under flouroscope (sp?) at your next appointment. I say to call now instead of waiting because if you get there and they are not prepared to do it, you may have to wait yet another month to find out if there is a problem with your band. Just a suggestion.

Good luck to you.

What she says !

She is right on Target !

They can take you to your fill line, if there is nothing wrong.

They can also put in a acrylic if they think theirs a leak, and that would plug a hole.

But yep! she is right on the money.

I have a 10cc band also. I now have just a little more than 4 cc's and think I might've finally found my "sweet spot." I would think that you should feel at least something.... whether it be tighter in the morning or something. I think you should probably call your doctor and just check in. Never hurts to just talk to him about it

3 bites per meal? ROTFLMAO!!!! Imagine me rolling on the floor laughing hysterically cuz that's what I'm doing at the thought of eating 3, 4, 5, or even 6 bites per meal. It never happened -- not for me at least. I also never expected it to happen. I could not possibly walk 3+ miles every morning before work on a 3 bite B, L and D. I, like betheboo, eat a LOT less than I did before banding (though I think that I could eating even less if I didn't overthink the idea of malnutrition. LOL)

And, I don't think that having the band actually makes me feel "full" unless I overeat -- at which point I not only feel stuffed, but I also feel like the food is coming up through my esophagus -- and it does. This thing, being banded, is really so much more about "the mind" than is advertised. It's about changing your thinking about food and what it really means to your life. I have never been a person that suffered from physical hunger, I am a head hungry person. So, my journey takes me down the path of learning not to eat over emotion (good or bad). The band helps because when I am so stressed that I can't think rationally it helps me to stop eating and realize that food is not going take my stress away (or any other emotion for that matter). I see an obesity specialist therapist. She helps me understand the role food plays in my life and gives me tools to change my thinking.

It the way you think that makes the difference. I don't diet - I make better food choices because I want to lose the weight and that, plus exercise is the only way to get there -- for me.

Keep getting fills and stop being so hard on yourself for not being satisfied with 3 bites. (That still makes me laugh.)

Give yourself credit for getting this far. You're doing a great job!

thanks fran,

i guess i just get really down on myself about it because im no where near my goal and usually on all my other diets i lose about this much weight and start giving up which i notice i have been giving up working out less eating more and poor food choices and then ive just been reading about weight loss average with the band and it seems like if you dont get as much off as you can in a year then it just doesnt happen and the most ive seen is only 100lbs which doesnt put me at my goal or where the doctor actually wants me to be i keep getting fills but im already at 7 so i just dont think im going to get the actual restriction i need to eat less and burn more calories to get to the point i want

pfft. I had my surgery done in feb 2011 and I have had MANY fills. If I only ate 3 bites I would be starving......Try to put that out of your head. What I eat now probably looks more like "normal" portion sizes. When I am done with what I put on my plate....(I only place on my plate what I think is a normal portion). I am satisfied, I could eat more, I just dont need to. I make sure I get a good serving of a lean Protein and I always have veggies with dinner. I try very hard not to snack, If I have to have something I use a pure protien bar or a apple, something like that.

I think we have to be realistic, starving ourselves is not the answer. Listen to your body, the band will not prevent you from putting more food in your body. Try portioning out your food, eat slowly. then time how long you can wait until your really hungry. That is the only way I could do it. The band did not stop me from eating, but allowed me to fill full for several hours in between meals. I find that if I am not careful, I think about food all day......hmmm part of my addiction maybe ????

I hope that helps a little. I was going crazy thinking that at some point I could eat a coupe of bites and whooo cant eat no more....not this girl. But I am losing weight and that my friend is what I did all this for. : )

Good Luck!

OK, I'm confused. According to your profile, you've been banded 5 months and have lost 45 pounds. What's the problem? You're doing great! So maybe your haven't reached good restriction yet but you will. You didn't really think that you would be near your goal by now, did you? If the most you've seen is 100 lbs lost then you haven't looked very hard. There are a lot of people here that have lost more than that. I've lost 145. It didn't happen over night. It's taken 3 years. But guess what? I didn't gain it overnight either. I bet you didn't either. Be patient and follow the program. The band will work and the weight will (continue to) come off.

I am at my sweet spot. I can eat 1000 cal a day and not get physically hungry. I can eat a LOT more than that. A lot a lot more. But I choose not to (most of the time). I don't always want to work out but I choose to work out even if I don't want to (most of the time). I know that I still want to eat more and if I don't follow the rules about when to drink, Protein first, how much to drink, I won't loose. Yes, it is hard at times, yes it is a diet, but you are doing it. Keep in mind too that most people who arent having a hard time are not going to be on the forums. You are doing great, don't let yourself quit this time.

I hear you! See this is what frustrates the heck out of me. I THINK i'm doing so much better in comparison to what I could put away before. A steak, salad, pototo and veggie would have been nothing for me. I'd be full but not "stuffed." Now I have not even 1/2 piece of steak, veggie and maybe (huge maybe) a small red baked potato (spray butter and greek yogurt for sour cream). I still get criticism from my physician assistant because that is "too much" - - seriously, if I eat less, then I'lm looking in an hour or two for something to get me over the hunger and a yogurt isn't going to cut it. I'm proud of my improvements and know I could be doing better but if my band would ever get in gear, and help me out a little, maybe some weight would start coming off better? I "just keep swimming" and hope I hit that sweet spot soon. I have 5cc's in an 11cc Realize band.

Good luck to everyone...those who are not struggling so much and those of us who are. Keep up the good efforts everyone.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
