So, I have really horrible periods, which sometimes cause vomiting... this last cycle, I had vomiting, which was the first time its happened since my surgery in December. I couldnt stop writhing and dry-heaving and i was SO afraid the whole time because I knew that it could cause band slippage. For the next three days I couldnt keep any food down other than Water (although, i must admit, I was extremely stressed out as well). Since then (almost two weeks) I've been on and off with keeping food down and have woken up a few times in the middle of the night coughing because there was acid in my throat. I also have felt weird pain in my abdomen on my left side at times.. it almost feels like gas?

i dont know.. does it sound like slippage? Im so afraid.. I dont want another surgery.. my first one was in Mexico and I had the worst complications and had to stay there for so long after.. I just dont want to go through it again.. any info? anyone go through this?

help! and thanks in advance :)

I don't want to scare you but you need to see your doctor right away. It could be a slipped band or something else. You shouldn't wait around or guess based on "maybe" or "could be". Go find out for sure! Acid in the throat at night is a sign of slippage especially after throwing up constantly. You can recover from a slipped band so all the best to you on your journey!

No, it doesn't sound like a slip. It sounds like classic signs of being too tight. That is probably caused from swelling because of the vomiting. You should probably go get a little unfill until the swelling goes down. That acid in the throat is horrible. Try sleeping with a couple extra pillows until you can get to the doctor.

i think it sounds like a slip, the dry heaving is a def sign. I had a slip and it sounds just like it.

when you can not keep anything down, its a issue.

i slipped from dryheaving, but also we are not Dr.s DEF go see a DR ASAP

I second the notion to see your doc. right away. I know traveling is a pain but your health is worth it. I don't know what it is, but you need to find out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
