Does anyone else throw up if they drink after they eat?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I see alot of topics on why you can't drink while eating and most people say it's because the Fluid will wash the food out of your pouch sooner. I physically CAN'T drink until well more than an hour after eating (sometimes longer) or I'll throw up. It sucks while eating spicy foods. Does anyone else have this problem or am I the only one? It sucks if I forget to take a pill that I need to take and then I eat. I can't take the pill for over an hour later. I can drink up until the time I eat, but then forget it - even yogurt.

I have thrown up if i drink right after i eat if i am full. I can drink 30 minutes after i eat and i am fine. that sucks to wait an hour, the hardest thing to learn to stop doing i think. Write yourself a note for your pills to take before you eat. I don't know if that will help or not.

Often i'm the same, not for a whole hour but i always like to finish lunch with a cuppa ( i have never found drinking right after I eat tp wash food quicker, if anything it adds to satiety for me amd lets me eat less) but there's been many cups of coffee gone cold coz i just cant drink it or it will all come back up

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
