Sex after WLS

So I'm only 3 days post op and my boyfriend has already asked how long we have to wait prior to being intimate again. I told him he needs to at least wait for me to be seen at my f/u appt. I just wanted to know on average, how long have others waited post WLS.

It was day 8 before I even thought about it. I didn't like the idea of my belly being shook at all, LOL.

I was told to weight 4 weeks, that is also when I can start my birth control again. I'm 2 weeks post op and I'm thinking another two weeks, isn't going to happen. hahaha! I know they don't want you to get pregnant and I understand anything is possible there, but I have fertility issues so I'm sure I wouldn't even if we did. Can't wait to read the other posts on this one! My f/u appointment is tomorrow so I might ask the nurse if it's ok or not.

I asked my doctor b4 I booked the surgery. He told me 3 weeks.

mine told me 2 weeks. and i waited the 2 weeks for intercourse. didn't want anything to hurt and my husband was fine with it. he kept asking if i was okay when we did resume our activities :) he didn't want to hurt me :)

I'm not worried lol I'm asuming a few weeks

My doctor said two weeks and I believe we waited 10 days. The next day my abs were sore beyond sore! I wanted nothing to do with sex though for at least 7-8 days.

lol, this is good information. I was thinking that it had to be at least 2 weeks. I have a huge sexual appetite but I am not will to hurt myself in the process. I especially don't want to risk getting pregnant at this time. I was also told to wait 4 weeks post op to resume my birth control pills.

I would say I waited ten days. My husband was very careful. I have the mirena so I wasn't worried about getting pregnant.

Hi Bailey,

You and I have the same doctor!

Fun! When was your surgery?

Hi Bailey,

You and I have the same doctor!

My doctor told me 4 weeks and it was printed on my release papers from the hospital...I waited 4 weeks!!

I thought it was funny that it was printed on my release paper, lol. I'm like wth does THAT have to do with anything!? The pregnancy thing makes sense, although my husband is fixed so it won't happen here, but I figured as long as I'm ok physically then we can do it.
