Band Fills

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

My insurance no longer covers fills and I was wondering if anyone could assist or have heard of some affordable places to get the fills? I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Is there anyone that lives in this area?

I'm trying to eat healthy and not have any soda, seeing if i can do this with no fill, but i've maintained this weight i have for a few weeks which is good. My last fill was so tight, i went back in 7 days and lost 21lbs we were shocked and then he said, it was Water weight no fat loss, so i was up to 196 and have maintained this 173 since then, ready for a fill anytime though

Banded 11/17.......first fill of 1cc 12/15...some restriction; but not nearly enough..........2nd fill 1/9 to 1.8...started having acid reflux........after 2 weeks could not swallow solid Protein or food? did total unfill for one week and then went back and filled to 1.4 cc..........some restriction..........but managed to eat 2 mini bags full of popcorn and 20 chips last nite with no full feeling whatsoever????:D ..........and I sit here now after 2 cups coffee 3 pieces of bacon and am thinking about what to eat? does a fill sometimes kick in two weeks or more later??????????? I'm scared to death to get overfilled again....is that what it takes to lose weight? So what is this sweet spot ya'll talk about..........where you eat a cupfull of food...protien/vegs and are F U L L:clap2:

C07AW3, Dr. Jayaseelan does fills at the Surgery Center of Richardson. I know he does fills in the office for $50. www.texaslapbandcenter.com for his number.

Lynda, when you get a fill, it sometimes causes some swelling. That's why my wife's doctor put her on liquids for a week after her first one. When the swelling goes down, if you were good right after the fill, then you will be opened back up, some. Looks to me like your sweet spot might be some where between 1.8 and 1.4cc....you think?

Yes, you have swelling and sometimes it takes more than a week. or at least it did for me, been without a fill for month with nothing in my band cuz i couldn't eat or drink for a month. But, your sweet spot (well mine is) when i can't eat or drink well i can barley get ice chips and Water down, that is when i lost a ton of weight, i went a year like that not eating anything but some Soup and water got down to 130 too.

But Chill, what did it do to the rest of you. Your weight went down, but how did you hold up? What about Vitamins and minerals? How did your health hold up?

Randy,

I never took any Vitamins at all and didn't exercise, i was too tired too, and yes my hair did come out a bit and i was tired and weak alot. But, I went thru my first year with the band throwing up and trying to eat because i was hungry, so the next year i got a fill to 1.9 and kept for a year and lost weight on very minimal food and Water, and i have to say some alcohol too. I put on about 30lbs now, What it really did since i couldn't go to the bathroom because when you don't eat you don't go, it gave me Constipation and put 3 tears in my retum wall and one that went right thru it, giving me a staphe infection landing me in the hospital for a month and 1/2 and 4 surgeries. I wouldn't advise this to anyone, this is just my journey and i'm sharing it, so no one does what i did, now i eat probably to much, but am still in my size 10 jeans instead of my 2's and 4's and some 6's which is a big difference. It is hard to adjust for me emotionally with the attention i got from being so skinny.

Well I wouldn't say everything is ok, i still have drainage but the tears are healing. Dr. Maese says that it wasn't caused by the band and the doctors at Parkland say they don't know what caused it. So, I can't blame the bad just my poor eating. I want to loose the rest of my weight and its a struggle because i don't want to get a fill yet and i want to maintain at least were i'm at now without any restriction because that is truly what the band is for to teach how to eat small portions and healthy food. I know that it might seem extreme what i did, but i'm sure other bandsters have been thru some sort of bulimia and anorexia, it comes with the turff, Good luck on your weight lose and drink your shakes and take them Vitamins.< /p>

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
