Getting restarted (complicated story) Sorry so long!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was banded in april 2008, and really worked my band from April to August 08. Then I was told by my fertility doctor, that if I wanted another baby, I better "hurry up" So I did, and in the meantime I was absorbed, better yet OBSESSED with my fertility treatments for 18 months. Then came pregnancy and a (well worth it baby girl in Sept 10) Now she is almost a year and I am still fat! I have just had a fill in my 10cc band of 1cc (that was all I cold tolerate after a year of nada). I am working hard and exercising everyday. scale barely budges! My question is, has anyone had or known someone similar, and if so, how did they do? I just need some food and direction advice. I feel like I am starting all over again (le sigh!)

Thanks so much

Jessica

Congrats on the new baby girl. Maybe starting over is exactly what you should do. Pretend you were just banded and just start the whole process from scratch. It will probably help to get your mind back in the game.

I say start over too. I'm not supposed to drink my calories, but. I went away for the weekend and since I've been back I've been struggling. Staying within my calories and exercising but the scale is not budging. Tomorrow and saturday I'm going back to liquids. I'm gonna have 4 Protein Drinks a day and that's about it. I feel this helps when I'm struggling. It's not good to do for too long. I usually lose a number of lbs but gain a little back when I eat again. I feel it just gives my body a nudge in the right direction and the scale starts moving again.

Thanks so much for the pep talks! My girl really is worth it, but I need to do this for me. So far I am way under 1100 cals a day, about 950c. and gym everyday. But what do you all eat or not eat? And how many cals? Gah! I feel lost! What is realistic to expect to lose a week? Since monday I am only down 1 pound!

Maybe u need more calories, around 1200 or so, so your body will not go into starvation mode. Just a thought.

Congrats on that baby girl ! Were both Virgos, her birthday is a week past mine So Happy Birthday to her.

I started over, was banded 10/31/2006. Had bad after care, lost my job, and Ins., So now that I have Ins., I found a real good surgeon in Northern, Michigan. I'm at my fill line through Fluoroscope. So I try to stay between 800-1200 calories a day, I walk 3x a week, and I belong to myfitnesspal.com

food and exercise journal, and a lot of people from here are there also.

I started in January dieting at 1200 calories a day. Then by March I had a fill to bring me to my fill line.

Basically that's it.

But it can be done !

Sign up with myfitnesspal.com it's free! It helps !

I am Losingintime on that site, so look me up.

Shirley.

I second doing protien shakes as a way to kick start things. What I have been doing to loose a few pounds I gained, I'm pretty much in maintance mode, is 3 shakes, one meal of lean protien and veggie and one snack of 1/4c nuts and a lf cheese stick. I am finding I can stick to it longer than when I would do just 4 shakes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
