Do you have a problem with Chicken???

Marinate it. Works everytime to keep it super tender and moist.

I can only eat chicken breast if it is canned or moist (such as with honey mustard/BBQ). If my hub grills, he only grills mine a very short time & then I bake it covered in some type of liquid. tuna is a huge problem for me unless it is in so much mayo that it's disgusting! So.... I pretty much do not eat it ever. Anyway hope that helps. I have lost 125lbs so I guess I can live with out tuna! LOL

Hi Sindy Sue,

125lbs is amazing...I'm at 108 with about 30-40 to go! sometimes it seems impossible that I could have done it but maintaining and getting weight off is getting more challenging., I'm almost done with my 2nd year and am disappointed when I backslide. I've gotten back on track this summer which is good. What are your most common "meals" and tips at this point??

Happy to say I've not had any problems with `chicken, but I don't have much restriction. I will have a fill on Fri. I also haven't lost as much as I thought I would. I started out like a champ, but it's been over 2 years and I am only down 63lbs. That doesn't count the 10 I've been fighting the last year. Moisture is important, I made Beer Can chicken today, and I can eat McChicken, fingers or wings( I know). I add liquid and cover everything that I bake.

I started having trouble with chicken after my 1st fill - no more chicken wings for me! With this 2nd fill, it's worse! I have to pre-chop it up on my plate and eat only a tiny piece at a time and chew the dickens out of it. I know I can use a sauce or salsa, but I honestly prefer it without. Plus it really s.l.o.w.s me down - something I need to practice a lot! If things go down easily, I tend to eat too quickly. And I really love chicken! So I guess I said all that to say I use the negative to enhance the positive. Does that make sense?

BTW, my daughter in law who has been banded for over 2 years struggles with chicken too - FWIW.

I can't have chicken that is too dry. It gets stuck. If I cook breasts, I really like to use my crockpot. Just add broth or salsa and it keeps it moist. I don't have an issue w/ drumsticks or thighs since they are naturally more moist.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
