Appt tomorrow, possible fill?

Recommended Posts

I have an appointment with the PA at my surgeon's office tomorrow. I'm 7 weeks post-op as of tomorrow as well. I do not have any fill at this point. I'm consistently losing (average of 2.25 lbs per week, not including the liquid diet phase). I can definitely eat more than I could immediately post-op but overall I am fairly satisfied with small amounts of food. For example, 2 eggs and half a slice of toast, 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 4 saltines with Peanut Butter on them, 2 oz chicken breast and a few green Beans.

It seems to me that the less Fluid in the band, the less complications people experience, so I would like to take a conservative route on fills. I know the PA agrees with that. I feel comfortable with not getting a fill tomorrow, but I'd like opinions from more experienced bandsters please.

My overall weight loss since I began my pre-op diet (10 days prior to surgery) is 30.8 lbs in 8 weeks.

Edited to add that sometimes I am hungry 2-3 hrs after eating but other times i can go 5 hrs or more. What I usually do is eat a small amount when I'm hungry 2-3 hrs after eating but after that I usually go a longer time without hunger so overall my daily intake averages out.

I am 6 weeks post-op and I do not have a fill. I have lost 32.5 pounds so far (I only update my ticker on Sat) and am not planning on getting a fill until I find that I am hungry faster. Currently, I go about 4 hours until I am hungry and the PA agreed me when I went for an appt for a fill. She told me as long as I am not hungry and I am not eating large portions and still losing, I won't need a fill. I hope this helps beings we are around the same place!

I am just shy of 8 weeks post-op and I am down 30 lbs. I know that 4 cc's was put into my band at the time of surgery. I am also trying to take a more conservative approach to the fills. When I went for my 6 week check last week the NP agreed that I did not need a fill since I am lasting 3-4 hours between meals without getting hungry ( and I am eatiing a lot less then you due to very strict guidelines from my physician). It sounds like you do not need one right now, but the NP did warn me that could change at any time and to make sure you are aware of any chages in your hunger.

Good Luck!

I agree with the others, sounds like you are doing just great. However, I would keep the appointment and talk with whoever does your fills (PA, surgeon, NP). Keep up the good work!

I would agree with not getting a fill. It sounds like you are doing a good job and the only thing worse than not having restriction is having too much. Keep going like you are, you will know when you need that first fill.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
