I have to agree with the other posters here. 5 days post-op to regular foods seems AWFULLY quick, even if it's what your nutritionist told you. My post-op diet won't let me back on regular foods for 30 days. I guess every doctor has a different plan, but yours has the fastest recovery period I've read about.

I would recommend taking it easy on the regular foods, so your body can heal. Good luck with your Lap-Band journey :)

You are not the only one to be surprised that I started solids, I seem to be getting that a lot. The whole practice has that rule. Even the psychologist you have to see before they will do the band has that post op plan. I will ask them again when I go Wednesday about the rush to solids, but seriously, I have not had any major problems. It may make a difference that they do not put ANY restriction in the band when it is out in. IDK. I know that the past two days, eating the solids, I have had around 1100 calories, which is less than I am allowed, so I know if I keep it up, I will lose the 1 to 2 pounds per week as recommended. My whole purpose of the original post was to make a small joke about having to chew the food til it's liquid. Kinda changes the taste of the food, it seems. Anyways, I hope we all do well with the lap band, it is definitely much more harder than any regular diet and we deserve it!

It sounds like you aren't getting enough Proteins in! Find a good Protein drink it will help with the hunger. I really ike GNCs Total Lean chocolate. It has 23 grams of Protein and isn't thick like other brands. It is a little pricey though. I put it in a blender with ice and a 1/2 banana (or whatever fruit you like or not). Then I blend it up and pour it into a glass with a dollop of cool whip. This really keeps me full and it takes a while to drink it. Oddly enough I have found that Soups really satisfy me too-I know that doesn't make sense because they are 'sliders" but they do. I get a low calories New England Clam Chowder I love it.

I know getting stuck is horrible! Good for you for chewing! I got stuck twice while standing and eating-so that's a no-no because it's mindless eating and you are likely to pop a big piece of something into your mouth.

If you are eating solids I would suggest very moist foods. Bandsters can't seem to handle dry foods and they tend to get stuck faster.

If you do have a cheeseburger (whic I have had) make sure it's not dried out (overcooked) and try putting lots of Condiments on it (BBQ saus=ce, ketcup, etc.) to keep it moist. I heard people say the Wendy's chile is a good option too.

You will figure out what works best for you and what fills you up. Just keep the Proteins high, don't forget all the Water too!

Good luck to you!

That's some really great stuff!! I like the cool whip idea. It seems the Protein Shakes are a little thick so I am all about a thinner shake. I am trying to stay away from most meats for fear of careless swallowing. I had Wendy's chili last night and finally got that full feeling. The chili was pretty good, which surprised me! Thanks for the GREAT advice!!

When I get tired of chewing so much I eat chicken or ham salad. I use a light mayo and at this point I only puree some of it the rest I eat chunky, and chew.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
