New AZ girl with August 19th date

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Just stopping by to introduce myself. I'm a 36 year old female living in the desert, LOL...Arizona. I've been on the fast track with starting the process the middle of July, and a surgery date of August 19th. Can't believe how quickly this time has come. I've experienced all types of emotions at this point, anxiety, nervousness, excitement. You name it, I've gone through it. Will just be glad when I get to the other side and this part is behind me.

I look forward to getting to know others on here. I believe a good support system is what helps people be successful.

Let's do this and win!

Hey! Im 25 and from AZ too... What city do you live in? I'm just outside of Phoenix in Gilbert. My banding date is august 2nd... 5 days!! I'm feeling exactly how you are... Nervous, anxious, excited.... But I know everything will go smoothly. I've never had surgery before so I just don't know what to expect! Anyway, good luck! Nice to meet you!

I am from AZ too. I live in golden Valley, Arizona, the real desert! I was banded on 12/20/08 and am to goal. You girls are on the way to a great start with the surgery. I was excited and every pd that dropped off made me more excited as I shopped for cheap clothes in the beginning, since the weight was falling off. I did have many plateaus along the way, since I am older than you two and my metabolism seems to have sometimes stopped along the way. I am down 90 pds and off all meds. This is quite a journey and a life change and yes I occasionally cheat with Desserts and it is not a diet but a life change. If you keep that in mind, you will do just fine. I dieted my whole life and being told I can never have something to eat does not work for me. I tell myself I can have it if I really want it and do I really want it? Well, congratulations on you girls entering this new lifestyle and I am sure you will do fine.

I live in North Phoenix. August 2nd is RIGHT around the corner, how exciting! I'm sending best wishes your way. I'm wishing my date was sooner now, so I can get this behind me, and finally be on the other side. I'm positive everything will go well also. Please keep me posted. Since we're so close in distance maybe once we both get past our healing stage we can synch up and keep each other on track. I'm a firm believer in having a support system. I can also be found on Facebook, at sweet_coco_az@ yahoodotcom,

Thank you for the encouragement. 36lbs is GREAT! Keep up the great work and keep me posted. I look forward to following your progress!

My surgery is on a Friday and plan to be back to work on Monday. Do you think that's feasible?

Thank you so much for the kind words. It's important that we hear from those that have traveled the journey and it gives comfort in knowing the best is yet to come. 90 lbs off is wonderful and inspiration for me to make this work. You are proof that it can be done. Thank you!

Hi! I totally understand the feeling, but excited to find out what is ahead of me. What part of Phoenix do you live in and who's doing your surgery? Did you have to do a pre-op diet? I would love to keep in contact to help keep each other focused and going. We're going to do this! Yay for us for taking our health back!

Look forward to hearing from you and seeing how things are going.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
