I get my first fill tomorrow 7/26/2011. I am so nervous and excited! I don't really know what to expect....I know it's done the standard way and I will get 3cc's. Can anybody tell me what to expect, what it will feel like and what I need to do (as far as food) immediately after? Thanks in advance.

I just got my first fill last Thursday. My PA told me to not eat or drink anything at least one hour before. The procedure itself turned out to be nothing!

She had me lay on the table. She told me to tighten up my stomach muscles and push out. It made my stomach sort of hard-- she was better able to feel where the port was. (But my friend had it done by another PA who didn't have her tighten her stomach, and that PA found the port just fine, too. So guess it is just different technique). Anyway, back to my PA...she told me to relax, and when I did it again, she would insert the needle. When that happened, it felt like getting an easy shot. That was it!

When she took the needle out, it felt weird, but it didn't hurt. She said someone described it as the way a cork might feel when it is coming out of a bottle!

She put a little bandaid on the site, and had me sit up. She had me drink a little Water to make sure it wasn't too tight, and then I was on my way!

Hope that helps. I too was very apprehensive beforehand. Luckily, I went to this site too, and other people's experiences helped a lot. Hope this helped you! Good luck. And congrats on being so successful before your first fill!

By the way, I got 4 cc's. It is wonderful-- doesn't seen too different than no fill, other than twice since Thursday I had a little pressure in my chest when eating, which I assume is that wonderful "stop" knot everyone talks about! I LOVE IT!!

Thanks so much for your response. I feel a little better. The PA is also doing my fill, so I am just worried that she won't get it the first stick. But we'll see. I hope I can get 4cc's if I need it. Thanks again!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
