..Not a creature was EATING, not even a mouse! Hey all! Yep. 10:00am tomorrow-surgery time! And I don't know about anyone else, but I am DYING over here on broth and juice!..Man! This ONE day is the hardest day ever! I have thought non-stop about food! NOT that I'd actually EAT anything of course..lol.. I've worked TOO hard for this day-losing 20 pounds to boot! Just wondering-anyone else think about food-while famished, mind you-like me, the night before surgery?

I am SO looking forward to my first Protein shake! Yeah!

congrats 14isabella on the 20 pound loss! Let us know how everything goes...

butterflym--i share your surgery date of next friday the 29th...it'll be here before we know it!

And to everyone else--i feel the same--its day 6 of all liquids and I STILL want and think about food a lot. they said this would get better after about day 3 or 4, but it really hasn't for me...I think this just shows me how deeply my food addiction ran. I ate a sugar free pudding last night for the first time (mind you--i would have turned my nose up at anything sugar free before this diet) and the thing tasted like 'BUTTTTTTTER'...it was soooo good. I sincerely miss even the taste of lettuce at this point.

I find myself jealous of those who get to eat a "sensible meal" for dinner on their pre-op diet. I might not go insane on that type of plan, but "all liquids" is really quite frustrating. Hopefully next week will be easier...

Now my salad tastes like um um good!! I cheated tonight and had cut up grill chicken on my salad!! I am not nervous YET!! but next week this time, OH MY!! Good Luck to u all and i will keep you all posted!

I'll be with you tomorrow as well ... my surgery is at 1130am (hopefully). There was (for me) no night before surgery diet. Just last two days of liquids only which did include Protein Shakes. Nada after midnight so no pills or Water in the morning ... tomorrow this time, we'll be happily banded !

i have my surgery on july 28th, so i am sooooo feeling your pain on the liquid diet!! last night i went out with some of my cousins to a concert at a county fair. the smells were KILLING me!! and it seems like on tv there is nothing but food commercials!! UGH!! but on the positive side, i have lost 21 pounds so far since i was approved for surgery 4 weeks ago. my doctor gave me an appetite suppressant and i was on that for 3 weeks, and now this week i'm on the liquid diet (with the suppressants that are NOT really helping). i just keep telling myself - 4 more days and i will be on the road to my whole new life.

I know exactly how ya'll are feeling. I have to do the liquid diet for 10 days (I get banded on Aug. 1). It has been really rough. I had to go to 2 bridal showers over the weekend and there was some yummy looking and smelling food at both. I did pass it all up though. When I get in a really tough spot ( and trust me, it is tough), I think about how amazing it will be once I am banded. My body is already starting to feel better from the liquid diet as well. I don't know about you guys, but I used to swell up really bad, especially my feet. After about 5 days on this diet, I can now see the bones in my feet :) Its the small things. Good luck to everyone :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
