Belching......Growling Stomach........Hiccups!

Recommended Posts

I have been banded going on 4 weeks. It seems like my stomach growls a whole lot. It's weird to me. I know my doctor jokingly said my stomach would "talk" to me so I guess it's nomal. Does it mean it's hungry or what I wonder??

Another thing I have noticed is that I belch a lot with the band. I only drink Water, but sometimes as soon as I take a drink I have to belch. Am I drinking to fast or something? I get the hiccups sometimes. Also, my chest feels tight after I eat....anyone else experience this?

Overall, I haven't had any problems with the band. I eat small portions and I'm satisfied. I do worry about strethcing out my pouch, but I don't think it's possible with the small amounts I eat....hope not anyways!

My stomach makes noises...I figure that is normal. I think its just the digestion going on.

With regard to the burping after drinking...you may just inadvertently swallowing a bit of air while you drink and that may cause you to burp. I know I burped a lot right after surgery, but not so much now.

I think that your chest feeling tight is what "full" feels like. I dont feel it very often as I have no restriction and have not had a fill.

I'm still pretty new (7 weeks since surgery) so others may have better info!

I have the same problems. The burping is the band but IDK why it does that. My stomache growls most when my band is really restricted and I am consuming mostly liquids. My best friend has experienced the tight chest and everytime she has gone through that it was because her band was too tight or she was still eating too fast.

It's all normal! I sill burp more than I did pre-band. I do pay attention when I'm swallowing, but somehow, the air still gets in.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I think the chest tightness might be because I have been eating too fast. I'm having trouble slowing it down!

I heard that as your stomach shrinks, it tends to growl at ya.....

I has taken me over 2 years to realize that I haven't been eating small enough peices. Also I eat to fast and I drink to fast. These things have made me burp and have gas. Now that I watching more closely all have calmed down. The tummy noise I think will always be there, but it doesn't usually mean you're hungry.

I burp much more now than when I did pre-surgery.

I definitely burp more now. Also, I never really had a growly stomach until after the surgery. Now you can hear it across a room. I'm not really sure what the physiological reason is for it, but it certainly does happen!

I never really burped before my surgery but now i can out burp my hubby. lol its normal. but they say if you slow down on drinking and dont gulp you wont have that much air for gas later. Also dont use a straw!

I burp much more than I ever did and my stomach growls when I haven't fed it in about 4-5 hours. I am a little over 2 weeks post band and eat very little and what I do eat is all Protein. The doctor says I am doing great but when I eat too fast I do get the chest tightness especially if I am full (5 bites).

We would make for one noisy room. I haven't mentioned my stomach noises to anyone, but today at work a coworker came and wanted to know if everything was okay. I confused because I had been happy and cutting up all day, but come to find out she had heard my stomach! It was hillarious and I had to explain the "new" sound effects I now have.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
