Is it normal to feel Nauseated???

Recommended Posts

I had my band on June 30th and I have had a terrible time feeling nauseated. I don't throw up anything I drink, and was suppose to do 2-weeks of liquid after the surgery, but yesterday decided to scramble some eggs, which I kept down. I am so tired of feeling sick to my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this??

I was banded the same day as you. When I came home I was given some meds for nausea. I'm not sure if you were given any, but I would take some. You have to remember our stomach is readjusting to have some actual food in our stomach after being on shakes and Soups. But if it continues, I would call the doctor's office just to make sure you can move on to the mushies.

I had to move on to the mushies stage because I was getting hungry again and the Soup and shakes just wasn't hitting the spot. So far, I haven't felt the way you feel. Yesterday, I even had ground turkey and salmon yesterday and felt very full and satisfied.

Go to CVS and get some liquid Emotrol. It's cherry flavored and not only helps the nausea, the flavor helps the nasty taste you get from the liquid diet.< /p>

My surg was 7/1 and I've never had nausea. I have strange feelings and rumblings in my tummy, not no nausea - thankfully! I have suppositories from my doc if that happens, but I think I'm in the clear now.

You may need to ask your doctor to write you a prescription for an anti-emetic. You should have been given some at the recovery room post-op... and it would have been nice for your surgeon to prescribe one to take home.

I was feeling fine during recovery... but I had a very difficult time with nausea the first two days after surgery. Unfortunately, I wasn't given an anti-emetic to go home with... and my surgery was on Friday so I had to wait until Monday for a script. But by then, I was feeling fine.

I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering from nausea... for me...it's one of the worst feelings in the world. Severely diminishes your quality of life.

I hope you feel better soon!

We were told to buy Pepcid Complete. It Worked ! It's pricey, so go to the website and get a coupon, or try no name brand. I still keep some in the house.

Thanks everyone!! My doctor's appointment is tomorrow, so hopefully I'll at least know nothing major is wrong.

I didnt have nausea at your stage, but since being banded long term, I now get sea sick, car sick, plane sick, cant go on amusement park rides anymore, and suffered terribly from nausea during chemotherapy where previously I was one of those people who NEVER felt nauseas. I had a cast Iron stomach but not any longer.

Ask your pharmacy for Meclizine. It is an over the counter medication for motion sickness and vertigo. Works very well!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
