tighter band 2months since fill

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

It has been a while since I posted. I love my band I have lost 50lbs since being banded and am still continuing to loose. I am having some issues lately though. It has been 2 months since my last fill. I felt fine untill a couple of weeks ago. I started spitting up almost everytime I eat or drink not sure why and feel nausseated. I feel like my pouch has gotten smaller is that possiblle. It may also be that I am drinking more Water since it has been sooo hot in Oklahoma. What do you guys think? Any suggestions for me? I chew properly.

Thanks guys:)

You may have something stuck and be "slime-ing". "Slime-ing" is when food gets stuck in the stoma and you automatically start slowly spitting up slimy saliva. I heard that warm/hot Water helps open up your band and cold stuff can tighten it. I would get some hot tea or coffee right away and immediately call your doctor. Especially if you think the band may have slipped. You may chew properly, but if you have chugged water instead of sipped, it can be hard on the band too.

I tightened up last summer. The mistake I made was to continue to try to eat STOP!!! Do liquids/soft for a few days. This will give your throat / pouch swelling, if it's there, to go down. I didn't and had to get an unfil to ease it. Hopefully your aren't drinking with meals.

My doctor said that you can swell up an your band feels tighter in the summer...

Where in Oklahoma are you from? I live in Phoenix but I'm from the Tulsa area(owasso) and hopefully my husband and I will be moving back in a year or so! Love it there :-)

I live in Bartlesville and grew up in Collinsville so I am very familar with Owasso. Yeah I love it here to. That is the way I feel, like it just happened out out of the blue. It is nice to meet a fellow Okie-if just at heart:) Thanks for the info. I don't have any pain so hopefully it isnt a slippage.

Do you know why you tightend up? Did the temperature change it? Thanks for the advice I will do that. So mushies and liquids for a few days, and warm drinks. Thank you all. I am a little concerned about calling the doctor. My hubby who has a band had a small prob and they took out tons of liqiud from his band. I don't want to start all over if I can help it.

Would something be stuck that long? I'll get some coffee. I don't have pain and have heard that is a major sign of slippage. I have forgotten and taken a couple chugs of water a few times as soon as I feel the pouch fill though I remember and stop. Thanks for the info.

hmmm...maybe just a tiny piece of something? If you can get any food through at all, maybe it's only partially blocked... just a thought. Hope the docs can give you some answers. ;)

With the last couple of weeks with the temp increase, I have noticed that my band is tighter. This happened last summer but not as bad (maybe because I have more Fluid this year compared to last). I need to take niterun advice because I still try to eat in order not to get malnurished. But that may be doing more harm than good.

I was doing the same thing. I would start feeling weak or sick, so I tried to force myself to eat. Then I'd spit it up. I have been ingesting warm liquids and mushies for 1 1/2 days now. I am not sure but it may be helping. I thing I try it a couple more days before going back to my "normal" routine. I did find a good way to drink my Breakfast. I usually have a no sugar carnation instant breakfas. I warmed the milk up in the microwave and it tasted just like hot chocolate. I broke down and called my drs office today. The lady that answers the phones says some people to react to warmer temperatures this way. My doc is out of town till Monday so that gives me a little time to try mushies and hope it works. I think I was at my sweet spot before the summer. I hope you start feeling better soon:)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
