Thank you for posting this. I had my surgery last Wednesday and I feel no restrictions.... at all. I was really starting to get nervous!! My first fill is scheduled for 7.25.11. How many cc's did your doctor hook you up with?

They don't usually fill you right after surgery. Your band needs time to heal, so right now the band is just a band. You still have to be gentle and only eat how your supposed to eat because it's so fragile right now, but the band will be extremely loose until your first fill. I was not aware of that in the beginning, myself.

:)

Not all bands are empty right out of surgery. There are plenty of surgeons who put Fluid in the band during surgery (mine included). I have not gone in for a fill yet but I know I already have 4 cc in my band.

Thanks dmg, as I have read more people's posts today, I have come to realize this. The info I posted above was just what I was told.

They have been filling mine slowwwww as molasses.... hmmph... kinda wish it was tighter right now, too.

Actually, I knew nothing about cc's or anything until just the other day. Just that it was empty for the first 6 weeks after surgery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
