Do any of you have problems if you eat right before bed???? Background: I was banded in 2008. I am still down 100 lbs from start. I have had an unfill about a month ago. I have found not twice that I get EXTREMELY uncomfortable if I eat right before bed. I don't know if it is because I have food in my pouch when I go lay down but it feels like a lump in my chest....just like it did when I was too tight before my last unfill. It hurts. I can drink and eat. The last time it took about 48hrs to feel normal again. I've never had this issue before. Anyone out there experienced this?

Its not a good idea to eat before bed anyway even without a band - obviously when you're laying down, there's more potential for acid to enter the esophagus. With a band, its even more likely. I dont have too much trouble with this, but then, I'm not a nightime eater. However the other day after a cup of coffee and a piece of fruit at morning tea time, i went back to teaching gymnastics - yep, handstands and cartwheels - I had absolutely awful heartburn.

I think it's the food in your stomach causing problems for sure. If you stop eating right before you go to bed you should be fine.

You might want to get examined to determined whether a hiatal hernia is present. While I "can" eat before bedtime, it really isn't something I do much these days. Perhaps a saltine if I 'must' but really is just the remains of an old preOp habit.

Night time eating is what made me gain weight. I try not to eat after dinner at all. Maybe coffee (decaf) if I feel I must have something.

I think it depends on the density of the food you are consuming at bedtime, plus the amount. If I'm careful and keep the bedtime eating light, I'm ok. In the past, when I tried to eat something like meatloaf right b4 bed, I had reflux at night..

Recently I've been cutting the snack size supreme Protein bars in half and having half of one right b4 bed and it satisfies my sweet tooth, and has just enough Protein to keep me sated all night.

If you're having lots of trouble, I'd cut back completely on bedtime eating.. and maybe drink a cup of hot tea an hour before retiring.. to sorta "wash out" the upper stomach.

Good luck to you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
