I will be banded on next Thursday, 8/11 and I am trying to buy all of my things I might need. Please don't laugh or talk badly about me but are sugar-free popsicles the same as sugar-free fruit bars, because thats all I saw in the store today?!?! LOL.

I'm not sure, but fruit bars sound like something that goes on a shelf? And popsicles are things that get frozen?

You can make your own sugar-free popsicles by getting sugar-free cordial and freezing it into ice cubes, or if you have the popsicle moulds with the plastic handles, you can do that. That's what I'll be doing.

Thanks to those who've been banded for getting back to me. I'm getting banded on a Monday, I will stay overnight in the hospital, and then come home on the Tuesday sometime... My daughter has music lessons on Wednesday morning, and I didn't know if I should tell the music teacher that we wouldn't be there, or if I'd be able to drive there. It sounds like I might be able to, so I guess I'll tell her that we will "probably" be there.

Fruit bars are in the frozen dessert section. Making your own sounds like a good idea.

I was tentatively scheduled for August 31st!!! I have my history and physical on August 16th and they will tell me if I have to go through a three month diet before hand (even though my insurance was approved already... What?). That would really suck because then they would schedule my surgery riiiiight around Christmas. But for right now... Ignorance is bliss and I'm going to Celebrate being a hopeful August Bandster!! biggrin.gif

I'm getting mine done in florence, KY on the 17th. I start my liquid diet on Sunday. I just went out and bought all of my stuff, I still need to get Protein Powder, I think I'm going to try Isopure, I have to get 75gr of Protein each day. I feel like the liquid diet is going to be the hardest part lol

I had mine done in Florence, KY on Thursday! *high five*

Well, I had my "last hurrah" this weekend... Played cards with some friends last night and drank a lot of wine and ate a lot of junk food... Today, there has been toast, Pasta, and a huge Thai meal complete with friend ice cream LOL... See ya, food! I start my Optifast diet tomorrow morning, and surgery is the following Monday!

EEK!!!

:D:o:blink::unsure::lol::unsure::blink::o:D

Kala, We have 2 wks. of liquid, nothing that can't go through a straw, 800 cal. a day, 60 gr. Protein. I'm not getting hardly any protein. I'm going to our support group mtg. tomorrow night and hope to get a better understanding of the liquid diet purpose. I'm on Clear Liquids for a week after surgery then soft and mushy for 2 wks., then solid.

Right now I'm just looking forward to the clear liquids, that list so much better of things I can have.

Have a great week.

Abowman1985,

I think the liquid is hard too. I can't find a Protein powder that I like. Let me know how you are doing? I did find a huge list, 200 recipes under the Food/Exercise forum on this site. You might find something you'll like there.

I am getting banded on the 10th. I have to admit that I am a little frightened, since I have never had surgery other than on a toe before. I have been relieving my anxiety by purchasing clothing on line that I will cannot wear until I have lost some weight.

Hey Banders! We are almost half way through the month. I'm up on Thursday!! I was doing great with opti then I slipped these past couple of days. Its nothing but liquids from here on out.

As for Protein powder, I have been using Isopure in my morning vanilla opti and I have grown very fond of it LOL its weird but I do look forward to it every morning. Best of luck to all being, getting, or considering lap band.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
