I'll find out my date today

Recommended Posts

In a few hours I will have my first consultation with my surgeon. When his coordinator setup the appointment she told me that I will be picking my date today. WOW. I'm very eager.

3/1 was the earliest they had available, so I booked it!

Now to make arrangements for work... I'm supposed to be in Tampa the week of and the week after. I'm sure moving the work dates won't be an issue, but still - go figure.

I have a feeling I am going to be even more thankful than I already am that my boss is such an advocate for flexcible work arrangements & telecommuting. :)

Oh, the bad news... man, getting weighed there was d-e-p-r-e-s-s-i-n-g! There was a 20 lb. difference between their scale (the higher) and PCP's scale! I was really caught of fguard with "sticker shock" for a while!

Sorry about the Sticker Shock. Try to remember that the scale is in insidious liar, anyway. Think Non scale Victory... The scale just gives you a number. How your clothes fit, and how you fit into the world, actually have an impact on your life - TOTALLY independent of what the scale happens to say, today.

Congrats on getting your date!!

:]

Congrats on getting your date! It does figure that you'd have to move a bunch of stuff around, but it'll be worth the hassle! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
