I don't care for too many of the powder mixes, but that is just me. I do have a suggestion that I did....I went to www.vitalady.com and bought a bunch of samples of different ones that sounded good to me. The samples are $1.99 each and it was totally worth it to me to spend the $$ on samples or I would have wasted a lot more money. I found a few that I liked and found out that I definately don't like ones that have cinnamon in them.

I prefer the ready-to-drink shakes but they can get kind of expensive if you are drinking 2 or 3 a day. My favorite is the Oh Yeah brand but they are pricey....my second favorite is GNC Lean shake. I actually bought them when they were buy one get one free so I got 8 shakes for about $8.00. (I think the are usually $8 for a 4 pack?) I think the Milk Muscle is okay, but dislike the "light" version but that one is better for you because it is less calories. In the beginning I chose to drink the higher calorie one shakes because I could at least tolerate it where I wouldn't even drink the lower calorie one so I wasn't getting the Protein I needed. The GNC Lean shake is 14 ounces, 170 calories and I think 25 grams of Protein. The Oh Yeah brand is 14 ounces and I think it is 32 grams of protein and around 230 calories but don't quote me. The chocolate in the Oh Yeah is to sweet for me so I mixed it with 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 chocolate. The cookies-n-cream Oh Yeah is my favorite. The one thing is that they are 14 ounces and I was only supposed to drink 8 ounces for a "meal" so I split them in two.

Hope this helps, but I'd highly suggest getting samples. Oh, I also use the GNC 100% whey unflavored protein for mixing in my oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, Soups etc. Every little bit helps.

I have only been able to stomach Hydro-Whey which I get from GNC. I get the chocolate and add a little coffee and it tastes like a mocha. I strongly believe that you get what you pay for. If you don't mind cheap Protein with not-so-great flavor, they have hundreds of different kinds. At GNC, you can try whatever Protein you buy and if you don't like it, can take it back for a full refund. This was a huge relief to me after buy HUNDREDS of dollars worth of protein and took a scoop out of each one. I just couldn't do it! It wasn't until I went to another GNC that they told me to bring back whatever I didn't like for a refund. You just can't go wrong!

Good luck!

P.S. Hydro whey has 30 g of protein, 2 carbs and 0 g of sugar!

I always keep a couple of the ready-to-drink Muscle Milk Lights in the fridge. I think the chocolate and vanillas are decent and they're easy to grab on days I'm running late or if something happens at work and I know I won't get to eat lunch until later.

As for powders, I use the GNC Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard double rich chocolate powder mixed with 8oz of Hood Calorie Countdown chocolate milk and a few tablespoons of instant coffee. I add ice into my GNC blender cup & shake on my way out the door! The Hood milk is low calorie, low sugar and low carb (Here's the label), but gives the shake more chocolate flavor (and adds a little more protein) and isn't as watery as skim milk. I seriously drink this like 3 days a week. I love it!

Good luck finding something that works for you!

I like the Muscle Milk Light...most flavors....I usually get the EAS Advantage. They are low carb and about 4.97 for 4 already made shakes at Walmart or GNC. I like the chocolate and vanilla. Many of the Unjury shakes are okay as well. I actually tried the chicken noodle flavored on, warm and it was just light chicken broth and had a whole bunch of Protein in it. I eat regular food now, out a year and a half and I only drink Protein Shakes when I'm in a rush in the a.m.

I've tried several brands and here's what I think::::All that I tried were powder form and mixed with either skim milk, almond milk, or soymilk, except nectar, which was mixed with Water......

The Ideal chocolate Milk Diet...tried both chocolate and vanilla and liked both of them. Ordered a sample package first to try it out and have since ordered 1 container of each.

Syntrax nectar brand....ordered the sample box and only tried a few flavors...wasn't in love with them, as they all taste to me like bad kool-aid, and I don't care for kool-aid!! But I only mixed them with Water, so they might taste better mixed with some sort of fruit juice or V8.

From Walmart: Body Fortress Whey Protein Powder in chocolate....not the best tasting powder, but I could stomach it. Probably won't buy it again, even though it was the cheapest.

Jay Robb single packets....bought chocolate (taste is so-so, wouldn't pay money for more of it though), vanilla (I really like this one!! Will order more!!).....also bought the pina colada, dreamsicle, and strawberry flavors but haven't gotten to try them yet!!!!!

unjury....bought a sample package and liked both chocolate and vanilla. I also tried the unflavored, used it when I wanted Carnation Instant Breakfast....it allowed me to drink the flavor I wanted but added the needed protein.....I don't remember if I liked the strawberry flavor or not. Also came with chicken Soup flavor but I haven't been brave enough to try it yet. I will likely order more of the unflavored for sure to add to different foods.

I am also experimenting with adding fruit to my drinks to make them more like a smoothie. Next week I will buy some of the sugar free syrups to see how I like them.

Good luck and let me know if you find something you really like so I can try it too!!!

Honestly you are going to have to order samples and try them for yourself. Because you can ask everyone here, but everyone has different tastes so if one person likes it, you may not. Ive seen a lot of people like Bariatric Advantage. That one made me want to vomit. I tried the cookiesand cream eas myoplex lite, that was ok. I love the Unjury vanilla and chocolate. I just ordered more to have on hand for if I get another fill or I need a little kick with my weight loss. They also have a chicken Soup flavor for your clear liquid portion that isn't bad. I tried the Isopure liquids and couldn't stomach them. So the soup was the only thing that gave me Protein in my cleAr stage.

So really try some samples

I swear I tried every Protein Shake available and could barely choke down any of them so I make my own. I use the Any Whey flavorless Protein powder from GNC and my favorite recipe is: 1/2 banana, 1/2 c milk, 1/2 c ice, 1/2 T starbucks cocoa powder, 1 t Fiber powder & 1/2 scoop any whey protein powder and blend well in blender.

I'm with mountain girl. I can't stand most of Protein Shakes by themselves. I use the GNC in flavored soy Protein with fruit yogurt and crystal light added. This week mangos were ripe so I use a whole mango, with one scoop of powder, 1/2 c nonfat plain yogurt, one small banana, and enough crystal light to blend it. It tastes good and really pretty!

For me, Walmart's whey Protein tastes best and is very easy to drink. Isopure is the nastyest tasting liquid I have ever had. My wife works for GNC. They have these tubes of liquid protein( can't remember the name ), but they are good when watered down. The Liquid Protein is just to sickening sweet for me.

Walmart's Body Fortress Super Whey Protein is my favorite and it's the cheapest I've found. I buy on the website and it's free shipping to home. I get a 2 lb jar for $15 or you can buy 3 - 2 lb jars for $40 (mix and match flavors too!). I buy the 3 at a time, it's cheap, free shipping to home and it tastes great! My favorite is the vanilla, I'm not allowed fruit for now but frozen fruit was amazing in the vanilla! It's 130 calories with 26g protein. Walmart also sells cheap shakers by Body Fortress so I keep one at work and bag up little bags of protein powder to shake up for lunch.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
