A Fill after a year

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I wonder if anyone can help.

I had my first fill in over a year last week and now I'm having real problems at night time, coughing and waking with a mouth full of saliva then being sick, well gagging mainly!

I had 5.5ml in my band and the doctor drained it to see how much was there as I couldn't remember after a year, he then topped it up to 6.5ml

I'm now to scared to eat or drink anything as its causing me great discomfort during the day, I was ok thursday, friday, saturday. sunday but it started on Monday night.

Any ideas??? I don't want to have it taken out if possible as had started to gain a couple of pounds and not quite where I need to be yet.

Thanks

Go back and get some taken out,1ml was obviously too much. You don't need it all taken out . Remember if you stay too tight you are more likely to gain weight than lose as you will end up consuming high calorie slider foods. Also reflux etc are not healthy and a too tight band can lead to slippage,

You should probably also stay with liquids until you can get back in. Anything that might get stuck in there will just cause more irritation and swelling.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
