stretched pouch ??

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.

I went for a fill on Friday and my doctor refused to do it ! The doctor says that the band looks "perfect" , but he explained that the reason why I feel hungry it's because I've started to stretch my pouch !!!! I couldn't believe it !

I'm really scared about this ! He got very serious and told me to come back in one month for another barium swallow and he warned me that if my stomach pouch continues to be "stretched" he would have to take all of the liquid out of the band. I NEED EVERYONE'S ADVICE, PLEASE !!!!! I need to shrink my pouch before my next appointment. What is the best way of doing this? How can I get my stomach pouch to be the same size it was right after surgery ?

Is it possible to reverse the pouch to the same size it was right after surgery ? What's the best way to accomplish this? I've been banded for 9 months. I need everyone's advise on what to do / what to eat to shrink my pouch in a month.

Is there a SPECIFIC diet that I should follow ? HELP ME PLEASE !

Thank You Very Much !!

P.S:

Does drinking a lot of Water in between meals help to shrink the pouch or does it stretch it out even more? Does it do more harm than good ?

Thank You Kindly ! I look forward to everyone's response. Every little piece of advice would really help !

You want to eat smaller portions each meal. The less amount of food in your stomach might help shrink the pouch.

Try to eat 1/2 cup or less. This will probably mean you'll be hungry more, but would you rather an unfill?

Thank you for your reply. You are absolutely right. The problem is I don't feel full with 1/2 cup. If I drink lots of Water would it stretch even more ? Or would it help? If I do 1/2 cup of food for each meal, how many weeks would it take for the stomach to be back to the same size after surgery ?

Dont eat and drink at the same time.

Stop drinking 30 minutes before a meal and wait at least 45 minutes after a meal to drink again.

Don't drink carbonated drinks too.

Drinking Water during the day won't stretch the pouch just dont drink big gulps. Drinking more Water might help curb your appitite. If you find you're hungry between meals I suggest sugar free Jello or yogurt or pudding.

I am not sure how long it would take for your stomach to go back. I dont think it can ever go back to the size it first was but can get a little smaller if you cut down your portions.

Also dont eat things that can expand in your stomach like rice, Pasta, bread etc.

One week of mostly liquid diet usually works...broths and Tomato Soup...small quantities.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
