Back From The Casinos!!

Recommended Posts

I am back from AC (Atlantic City)! Being 4 days post-op when I went I was a little concerned but it went great! I packed a couple pre-made shakes, a jeloo, and 2 waters to take with me. Got to the hotel and put it all on ice. Wentto the Showboat casino and didn't win anything so we drove to the Tropicana (my fav, casino). I knew hubby was hungry and my throat was so sore I felt like it was closing up and I needed either something very cold or hot. I suggested we go to PF Changs(chinese) inside theTrop. I am VERY proud of myself. I ordered a Virgin strawberry Daiquiri (honestly I needed something icy in my throat. I had about 4 ozs. I ordered Egg Drop Soup to be brought with my hubby's meal. Took out the egg part best I could (it's pretty minced). My throoat and tummy felt so much better! I was thinking like a Bandster-the lettuce/chicken appetizers came to the table next to me and I said to myself "I can order that or make that at home when this post-op is over" They use lettuce leaves and you scoop a mixture mixture inside and eat it like a wrap almost. Left and played Sex and the City machine and won $270!! Whoo Hoo! I feel great today-still a little sore throat. :P

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
