Hello!

I am 1 week post-op and had a few questions for all of you out there. I am feeling great! I was told I can start mushies now. Do any of you have some good ideas for food? There are so many variations of the diet after surgery. I am not sure which one is best. I do not get my first fill until June 23 ( 5 weeks post-op). Any helpful suggestions are much appreciated. Have a great 3 day weekend!

The dietician at my surgeon's office said at this stage, I can eat anything that I can easily cut with a spoon. meat, etc. should be blended. Cottage cheese has been my go-to mushy food. I was banded 5/18 and get my first fill 6/27. I think I'll be more than ready by then. Best wishes as you continue your journey,

I'm a little over a week post-op myself. I've been on mushies for a couple of days and i'm living on cream of wheat, greek yogurt, Protein Shakes made with the yogurt and Protein Powder, potato salad (not the best choice but mushy), cream of brocolli Soup. I just realized I could have egg drop soup and i'm very excited to try that tomorrow!!

I was banded on the 16th, and I am starting to eat mushies now as well =) I quickly got bored with cottage cheese and mashed potatoes... so I started looking around. Through a Google search, I found another forum with some ideas in it. If you scroll through the postings, there are several mushy food ideas. I haven't gotten to try any of them yet, but I plan to tackle a few of them this weekend. I hope this helps!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
