Awesome Feeling I am sure!!!! Congrats! I can not do Spanx either I feel sick to my stomach :(

Oh good, I thought it was just me. It's weird because I'm not clausterphobic (did i spell that right) but the tightness of spanx or anything else like that just makes me so sick to my tummy.

:)

Just curious how all the May 2011 Bandsters are doing?

I was banded on the 20th and this is my 1st time in this group. So far I have lost 30 pounds and am scheduled for my 1st fill on October 12.

Have had to go through my closet and size all my clothes. I was wearing a 24 women's prior to banding but am happy to say those clothes are too baggy on me now. I'll soon be in a 22 women's but am not buying any new clothes just yet.

Hi, I was banded May 25, 2011. I have lost weight slowly. I think I am close to a good adjustment of my band. This last fill three weks ago is the first one where I get uncomfortable or pain when I don't chew well enough or wait between bites. I wish there was a way to know when things are right. I would like to lose more but I am happy to be losing a little instead of gaining a little. I don't PB or vomit. I have a few times when it hurts if I don't chew well.

Hi May bandsters. today is my 5 month surgiversary, so i thought i would check in. I have lost 70 pounds and I have had zero fills. I will see my doctor next month and then if everything is ok, i won't see him for another 6 months after that (unless i need a fill).

so far, I feel amazing, i reached twoderville and still have a loooooonnnggg way to go to get to onederland. i may never get there, but i'm so happy where i am that i really don't care any more. I can eat any type of food and have never been stuck or PB'ed or had any issues really. there were a few instances early on with nausea that we narrowed down to being caused by my time of the month and i take medicine for that now just a day or 2 before my period and it stops nausea in its tracks.

i hope everyone else is doing well and seeing lots of NSVs in addition to the weight dropping.

Dawn that's awesome! My five month is tomorrow, I'm barely into onederland and I'm going in today for my 7th fill ;) I can wear size 12 jeans which is the most amazing thing... And I just bought a Halloween costume that isn't a plus size so I'm super excited about that!!

that's great news Zoe. congrats on wearing normal sized clothing. my next goal is really to lose 30 more pounds because i am going on a cruise next year and some of the weight requirements for various excursions are 30 pounds below what i currently weigh....soooooo i have a goal to keep me motivated.

i booked this cruise as a treat for myself when i lost the first 25 pounds...hopefully by the time it rolls around, i will have lost 100. fingers are crossed.

Hi Everyone! I was banded on May 4, 2011. I have not yet gotten a fill! I have lost 50 pounds as of last friday. I am scheduled for a fill tomorrow, and I think I am going to get it. I feel like I can eat more than I should be able to so I want to get one. I am nervous about it!

I cant remember the last time I weight this much, all of my clothes are too big, but im not buying new clothes just yet!

In the mean time, my husband and I have been struggling with infertility (not weight related) and we decided to sign with an adoption agency we have been waiting a year for a baby! Well we got the call about a baby girl born on August 21 and she was in our arms August 22. She is wonderful and her Birthmother is an amazing woman. We are in an Open Adoption and it is an amazing journey :)

Hey all!!! my 6 month is coming quickly!! Nov. 24th! OMG I can't even believe it! Anyway, I''ve los 62 pounds and have had 4 fills. BUT the best part of all of this is what's happening at the clinic where I had my surgery!

My surgeon wanted me to have the RNY, he told me I would only lose about 50pounds (hah- proved him wrong!) and that I wouldn't be happy. I told him he was wrong and I would be successful! Anyway, he told me he was very proud of me and gave me a hug! wow. thats a lot for a doctor. then at our support group meeting, I was asked if they would show my before pic and let the people find me, I hesistantly agreed, and... no one knew who I was!!!! and finally, our leaders have begun to realize that our needs are different from those of the rny patients and have agreed to let us have our own meeting and are starting pod casts and asking me questions about my band! I'm becoming the expert (along with a very dear friend of mine)! It's a wonderful feeling to be paving the way for better support for us bandsters in this clinic. Also, my friend was told that only about 40% of band patients achieve their weight loss goals! well we all know that's so not true, but we're planning on proving it to them!

sorry for the soapbox, just some really cool things I get to be involved in and I'm really enjoying it!

Hello my May bandsters. I just wanted to give everyone an update. I had my second fill of 2 cc on November 15th under fluoroscopic. Hopefully, the next time, my doctor will be able to find my port in the office with more weight loss. I will not be able to return until May because I lost my insurance when I started a new job. I pray that my doctor is in the network. I would hate to lose her because she is a great surgeon and she keeps me motivated.

To date, I have 4 cc in my band and I have lost 60 pounds thus far. This past week has been tough for me. I have only been to the gym twice. I have to keep motivated during the winter months which is hard for me. I have about a 30 minute commute and after I pick kids up from activities, it is just easy for me to come home and relax instead of going to the gym like I should be. I set my weight loss goal for 25 pounds from November 15 - January 14, 2012. I don't know if I set my weight loss goal too high or not especially during the holiday season. I really want to accomplish it though which means I need to workout more. I hope to at least lose 10 pounds during December but it is going really slow.

The good news, I started out wearing a size 28 pants and now I'm down to a 22. My shirt size was 4x and now I'm wearing a 2x. I was wearing a 46DD bra and now I'm wearing 42DD. I have make some really great accomplishments and now I just have to stay on track especially since I'm will not receiving another fill. I'm good at where I'm at now and I don't know if another fill will be needed but time will tell. I'm really loving myself right now. I think my husband is feeling some insecurities but he does not have to worry because he is the one that motivates me to keep going.

After my second fill, I have been having some increased vomiting but I know what I'm doing wrong. I'm eating foods that I know that I can't have. After vomiting, I tell myself I'm not eating that again because I know that I can't have it.

Well, I have went on long enough with my story but this is my update. I'm just keep pushing and pushing Banane36.gif

Update - it's been a tough time since May 2011! I was banded and then got an infection in my incision- I ended up at a wound clinic and on antibiotics for weeks - it got worse and I had the lap band removed 4 weeks post op. In August the lap band was replaced and for about 7 weeks I had good restriction and lost a total of 80 pounds between my pre diet and November. I stayed at the same weight until March - no loss - no gain and then I began to gain - I went every month and got fills but my diabetes flared up and I had to increase my insulin- this made me hungry and so I ate more. At some point I just gave up trying. Today it's been 14 months and I have gained 20 pounds in the past 4 months. AAAAGGGG frustration! Today I returned to the doctor and got another fill - my band now has over 7 cc. I am frequently asked if I would do the lap band again if I had to do over -- I can honestly say NO! I feel like I wasted $16K and after a total of 5 surgeries still have a bmi of 46. My weight is the same as it was a year ago in July!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
