How many visits with Doc. before surgery

Recommended Posts

I only met with my doctor 1 time and my surgery is scheduled for Wed. Today I went for my pre-op visit but met with his associate. He was actually stanfing near the reception area and I was thinking-geeze this man is going to being seeing me completely naked and putting instruments in my body in 2 short days-and he doesn't even really know me! It was just weird. He comes highly recommended though. How many face-toface visits have you had withyour actual surgeon?

I've only had one face to face meeting with my Dr., other than the seminar, and my surgery is the 31. Sometimes I kinda feel like I'm missing out on something since I'm a self pay. It seems most with insurance have to go through so much just to get to surgery they become better acquainted with the Dr's and staff that they are working with. To me it seems self pays show up pay their money and the doc says see ya on surgery day. If you are insurance I apologize, this is just my experience.

Before the surgery I only saw him at my consult. I see him at every post-op appointment.

I am on insurance and only saw him once-so I am not sure if it has a lotto do with self-pay. I am sure I'll see a lot more of him after surgery!

I had two. At my pre-op appt I met with a fellow as well as my actualy surgeon, but only for like five minutes.

I met with my doc once for the consult then saw him again for the pre-op.

Honestly if I had more questions or wanted to chat with him again I could have but I didnt find it necessary.

I know of someone meeting him, the same doc ( who also does plastics) 1-2 times a month for 5 months because she had so many questions, concerns, wanted to know more info etc just for a Tummy Tuck consult and it was fine.

1-2 visits sounds normal to me though

I haven't met with him once. I have pre-op tomorrow and surgery on Friday. I met his partner at the seminar. I am also insurance, but his office doesn't do office visits/consults until you have all of your pre-requisites done.

I met with mine twice. Once at the initial consultation and again during my pre-op. The only other times I have met with him is on the day of surgery and for my 2 week post op appt. After that, I only meet with the PA (who charts my progress and does the fills) and with the NUT (about every 2 months or so).

What does NUT stand for? I see a lot of people use this acronym-

NUT = Nutritionist

Seems like it varies. My Dr is available at the weekly information sessions as well as the support groups. So I have seen him 2x. Will also see him pre op. So that sounds right on track with what everyone else is saying

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
