What is your greatest NSV?

Recommended Posts

I am really starting to see NSV (Non scale victories) and was wondering some of the others greatest and what I have to look forward too!!!

My first and the one I am most thankful for, I was banded on 3/28/11 and on 4/49/11 I was the driver of a roll over accident and I survived and my band is FINE!!!! I was wearing my seatbelt which can save your life as we all know but can also cause the band to slip but thank God, I am alive and the band is great I had my first fill on 4/12/11.

At 35 pounds off so far, my size 18 pants are falling off

my shoes are loose

I can get my rings back on

scrubs used to be 1x now LARGE

trouser socks used to be tight around my calf now they feel fine

can fit into booths without stuffing!!!!

my hubby can hug me, normally (sniff, sniff)

I know there are more and there will be more I cannot wait I love this journey and I am so glad I did it!!!! For those that are getting discouraged, I hope this board offers you support!!!

Peace, Joleen

This isn't my greatest NSV.. but my most recent. Over the weekend my daughter and I were looking at pictures of a wedding that we were both in back in 2005 (maid of honor and flowergirl).. and I was over 300 lbs. My daughter was almost 4 in the pictures and she's almost 10 now.. so she doesn't remember me being that big. She asked a couple questions about it and said she thought I was pretty then.. but thinks I look so much better now. It was really sweet.

going down 2 sizes in tops and pants - giving those larger sizes away (though it is odd to see one of my best friends in my clothes {I don't share my clothes usually, I'm very particular}), my rings are getting too big (not fall off too big yet, but very loose), my favoritest pair of shoes are now too big and I can't wear them (but I can't give them away yet), my energy level is through the roof (comparatively), I can walk 3 miles and not think a minute about it, I fit into the booth at restaurants and don't have to squish...there are more, but those are the big ones :)

Clothes are loose

Some clothes that didn't fit last year do now

I had to get a ring guard because my ring kept slipping off

I can cross my legs again

I don't get as winded climbing stairs

I can walk for hours (shopping) without any pains

I can fit in Victoria's Secret panties

I'm noticing men are paying attention to me again, this has been pretty exciting.. even though I have a wondeful man it sure feels good to be noticed again lol

My 8 and 9 year old neices noticed that I'm smaller and they're excited about it, that kinda meant alot more than when adults notice.

I can't wait for more NSV, I've only just begun. Thank you for this post, I was feeling a little bummed today as I feel like I haven't lost any weight in about a month, I'm getting frustrated. But looking at my list has reminded me of how far I've come.

I am down 4 sizes in pants, 3 sizes in tops.

No longer on BP medication

Almost no knee pain (I have arthritis so it may never go away completely)

No longer having to use a seatbelt extender on a plane (and not worrying that I am encroaching on the seat next to me)

I can fit in a booth at restaurants

Having to run out at the last minute to buy new clothes before I go on a business trip because the pants I bought for my trip last month no longer fit.

Having people that I have worked with for years do a double-take when they see me in a meeting because I look so different.

And...the best one yet...having my husband pull into the driveway and say to me that he is amazed everytime he looks at me because I look better than I did 15 years ago

Oh everyone is AWESOME, I am never ever disappointed by the positivity when I need it!!! I can't wait to shop for itty bitty Victoria Secret panties!!! My want list might be long!!! I want a pair of nice jeans! I picked up my 2 year old grand daughter and she is 32 lbs and I thought, Wow that's a lot of weight to carry around!!! I can also bend over easier!!! My bra's are getting fastened on the tighter fastener's now!!! Can't wait to see more NSV!!!

I guess it is a NSV and also a problem. I have barley any clothes that fit me. I've never been as small as I am now (a XL top and 16w jeans, though I may be approaching a large). I only have 3 t shirts, and 2 pairs of jeans and 2 hoodies that fit. Besides workout clothes and my scrubs for work). I started cleaning out my closet and realized this today. I hate buying new clothes because I just keep needing new ones.

I agree...I find that I can get away with wearing tops for a bit longer than pants but I still only have about 6-7 that don't look like I'm wearing a tent. As far as pants go, I have 1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of capris and 1 pair of workout pants that fit (I do lots of laundry ;) ). I usually buy the size I need and 1 size smaller when I find jeans on sale to hold me for a few months but I'm with you in not wanting to spend a lot of money on clothes that won't fit in another month or two...

I think the funniest NSV I ever had was looking in a mirror at the grocery store, and not realizing that it was me in the mirror! This was, also, the day my daughter looked down an aisle and didn't see me, but I was there! Karen

Awesome post!! Let's see, in order of importance, mine are:

1. No more diabetes medication

2. No more cholesterol medication

3. No more hurting knees or back

4. My husband can't keep his hands off of me

5. Having strange men offer to buy my breakfast/lunch or tripping over themselves to open the door for me

6. Having a business aquaintance ask me how I keep my figure (she just met me and had no idea I had been very heavy! I did tell her my story...)

7. Having my husband's boss tell me I look like a movie star!!!!

I loved reading what everyone wrote, great idea on a feel-good thread!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
