It's very unlikely that it broke or leaked. You could probably use a fill. You will find with time that your restriction will come and go. Sometimes something you eat can cause a little irritation causing swelling at the band site which will cause you to be more restricted. Then the swelling goes down and so does the restriction. I do know one person who's band sprung a leak. If you're really concerned next time you go for a fill have the doctor completely empty your band and check the amount against your chart. He will then put it back in along with a little more.

They include some fat between the band and your stomach to help avoid erosion. It could be that you have lost some of that fat. You may just need a small fill to get your restriction back.

I was banded 12/20 and hadn't had a fill yet, but I've been finding myself hungry lately and am thinking it may be time. I have an appointment on the 25th so I'm gonna wait til then and see how it goes. The way it's been so far is that I've been losing so I haven't needed one and I'm still losing but now am hungry so I will discuss it at my next visit.

My surgeons rule, is that when you get filled under fluoroscopy, they can see how much to put in. So your fill should keep you full for 5 - 5 1/2 hrs..

When you get down to hungry every 2 or 3 hrs., it's time for a fill.

It's nice to go 5 hrs., and not even give eating a thought..

Waite for a few days, and if things don't go back to normal for you, then you need a fill.

Jess~This the same reason I got my first (and only) fill back in March. My weight loss was great but I was getting very hungry between meals. The PA gave me a 5cc fill which freaked me out a bit because of how big it was. I even started to ask her to give me a smaller fill but decided to trust her instincts and experience with the thought that I could get an unfill if it was too much. As it turned out, the fill level was perfect - it didn't change the foods I am able to eat and I have only PBd once (which was my own fault for eating too fast).

If you are hungry more often than every 4-5 hours. I mean PHYSICALLY hungry, then you need a fill.

You shouldn't rely on any restriction, the band won't really stop you from eating, I eat a pretty healthy amount of food... it doesn't feel like I have anything in me!

I didn't read through all the posts but reading your question made me think of someone who posted something before saying something like "I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG" - - - they kept messing with her fills and unfills etc and nothing was working and they did a florscope or whatever it is called and her band actually became unhooked. Not detached from her stomach but the little loop thing that the hook inside to make it the band became undone. They had to refix it. Not to worry you but strange things can happen.

Ok, I feel really stupid all of a sudden....so we're supposed to feel full for 4-5 hours? For some reason I thought it was 4. Sorry to get off topic a bit.

I almost always stay full for 3 hours, sometimes 4. I happened to have scheduled a 3rd fill for next week so am glad now

Doctor's vary on how long they want their patients to be satisfied on a meal. I've seen anywhere from 3 to 5 hours. :) It's very individualized.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
