Okay, I know I'm probably just being dramatic. I had lap band six days ago, and it seems like I still have a bunch of gas. It isn't necessarily painful now, but I'm on the full liquids right now, and it seems like whenever I drink something I end up belching a lot. I'm trying my best to take sips instead of gulping it all down. And while I haven't gotten sick, I do feel uncomfortably full until I burp, and then I find that I'm still kind of hungry. So I'm having a hard time gauging whether I'm truly full, or just full of gas. Any ideas?

Been banded for two months now. I had a lot of gas for about a month. I remember thinking if I fart one more time I think I'm going to take off! It will go away, hang in there!

Ok... glad I'm not the only one! Haha! I just got banded yesterday morning, and yesterday I was fine. I thought I had lucked out on the gas pains, but it all hit me this morning!!! I've had gas ALL day.... and I've had family coming by all day to check on me and it was about to get pretty embarrassing! :) I'm just glad to know it wasn't just my body being weird or something.

Holy Gas!!!

Never in my life have I had so much. I was banded on 4/22 and to this day anything I eat produces an incredible amount of gas. Not so much through the top part of the body but down below. Its embarrassing because when you don't get rid of it, its so painful. So YES, its included in your lap band so far. Going for my post op tomorrow and will ask about it so will keep you posted !!

Good luck keeping the gas in.....LOL

Lol I complained of something very similiar just last night. By then I was in so much pain I didn't know if I was coming or going. Finally got a hold of a nuese today and she said that having gas was a good thing!lol And that getting up and moving around would relieve some of the pain. I also had become very constipated. So after a nice cup of milk of magnesia and a glass of oj i finally started getting some relief. But the gas pain I had had become trapped so make sure you get up and move around some. But that MoM's saved my life!lol Good luck

Yes I agree. It never goes away. Everytime I eat I get gas in my tummy. Peppermint tea helps. I also try to walk after I eat. That helps too.

Okay, glad to hear it's not just me. I wasn't particularly gassy before surgery, so I was kind of alarmed when I couldn't stop burping! It's getting a little better now, but I'll take burping over throwing up any day. Thanks everyone for your input! :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
