Kinda freaked out this last week, is this normal?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so since I have been back to work I have been noticing some alarming things. It seems like almost everything I eat makes me sick to my stomach and I have thrown up everyday since Friday. Its not even getting stuck, its just plain throwing up.

I also feel a heaviness in my upper stomach area and its hard to take a deep breath. I'm also experiencing weird hiccup-like burps that are really painful.

I have had a pretty easy time of it up until now and I'm wondering if I didn't make a HUGE mistake?

Anyone else had any of this type of stuff?

Not sure when you had your surgery. My surgery was 03/30/2011. I have figured out that I get the uncomfortable hiccups when I have had to much to eat. I told my doc at my last post-op appointment, that "full" felt different than it did before. He told me that was normal and to slow down and try a cup or so of food and stop, wait a while then if still hungry to try a bit more. It is very individual and trial and error for everyone.

I would go in to the doctor tomorrow. This does not seem normal to me, and you should get it checked out.

have you talked to your doc? you didn't mention if you are able to take liquids in (hopefully you are). You may have had a bit of an overfill. did you do liquids for 24 hrs after your fill? I would call the doc if I were you, just for peace of mind

I know after my last fill (in Feb) I was overfilled and had to have some taken out.. then for like 2 months I was afraid to take in anything

It's called "progressive burping" or "PBing". You ate too much or too fast or didn't chew well enough. You were just banded less than 3 weeks ago. You still have swelling from your surgery and should still be on liquids and soft foods until you're healed.

It seems to be any kind of food and now liquid. I'm just nauseous at all time and spent most of last night dry heaving. At this point the sight and smell of any food makes me sick and I'm having a hard time even keeping Water down.

I'm going to call the Dr. this morning to see if they can give me something for the nausea. I'm hoping that all of the vomiting hasn't moved the band at all.

Thanks for the replies.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
