over 2 years since last fill

Recommended Posts

I quit going for weigh-ins and fills or any check ups of any type for my lap band. I have regained approximately 35lbs of my lost weight since my surgery. I still have some reflux when I eat certain foods and have the vomiting. The shape of my stomach has changed. What happens to the band after this length of time and is it still any good...does anyone know? I appreciate any help with this.

Well I haven't had a fill in quite awhile, either....am scheduled for one on tuesday as I know I need one as I am getting hungry between meals again....but I have read if you start having trouble out of the blue with vomitting and reflux it can be a sign of a slipped band, so I would call your doc and go in to see them. That is serious and needs to be taken care of!

Hang in there!

Thanks Kim,

Actually I have always had trouble with vomiting. Not with everything I eat...just things like rice, breads, pastas, some meats (beef and pork and some chicken), etc. It just seems to happen too often. I first thought the fill was too much and the nurse took out almost all of it. All that did for me was make me hungry all of the time and still caused me to get food 'stuck' way more often than I felt it should. No matter how long I sat at the table (and I was always the last person there) chewing...it happened. I don't mean to say it was every meal or every day, but it has happened a lot. More than I have heard others complain of. I know I need to return...just getting the nerve to do so. So embarrassed.

I had not had a fill in over 2 years due to no insurance. I still have been loosing a little, had not gained any weight back. But I went in and got a swallow barrom then everything looked good, stomach in good shape. So I got a fill. Boy I'm having a hard time eating in the AM's for first meal. But at least I know I'm back on track. Go in you will feel better knowing what is going on with your band. I planned for the worst and hoped for the best. Good luck!!

I know where you are all coming from reading your posts because I was constantly getting food stuck and spitting up, totally uncomfortble eating in front of anyone. I am going on a year and a half, 3 fills. Everytime I have had a fill My Dr says the same thing to me and the first time I ever actually listened clearly was my 3rd fill (after a year) and he is so right, I just never listened. He said no more than 1 cup of food, chew your food 25 times, after you take a bite do not take another for 2 minutes. I finally heard his words and did this and have had barely an issue. I started out with an actual timer to time the 2 minutes. I dont think I truly understood how this worked until my 3rd fill, maybe I am still learning. But I am so happy I finally really listened. It has taken away alot of anxiety for me. I was definitely was all about eating too big of a portion. So take a 8 oz cup measure your portion and take your time - stop when your full. I was eating slow but eating too much which caused the vomiting. Hope this helps you because it finally helped me. biggrin.gif

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
