Have a lump that formed above my belly button?!?

Recommended Posts

So I am pretty sure I know where my port is, as I have been able to feel it since surgery. It is located just to right of my belly button and I can still feel it there. But I have a new lump just above my belly button that has just appeared today. I dont know what it is  It doesnt necessarily hurt but I am kinda concerned about it. I have felt pretty good the last couple of days and did a little bit of very much needed housework and some laundry. I made sure that I didnt pick up anything heavy.

I am going to call the doctor in the morning, but wondering if anyone has heard of this as of yet. Post op is 10 days out.

Maybe it's the band tubing?

My guess is it's nothing serious and developed during healing. I would mention it at your next visit, but not sure I would make a separate appt about it, since you are only 10 days out. Or maybe just call them and ask the nurse :)

Are yo sure it's not your port? thats where mine is, above my belly button, like below my breast bone.

I think it is probably a seroma....fluid leakage from the muscle being angry with having the port sewn in. Mine got huge and eventually went down...the body will reabsorb the Fluid after the muscle heals. By all means check with your surgeon, though.

Best wishes,

Mimi

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
