SO SAD TO SAY GOODBYE TO BREAD ALTOGETHER

Recommended Posts

Yes i love hamburgers and this past week i have been having some. stuck stuck stuck. to the point of forcing myself to puke cause it hurt so bad. it happened several times this week i tried toasting it alot. nope didn't work. so no more bread i know bread is bad. i have been struggling alot cause i am addicted to food. yes the Lapband is ONLY A TOOL. it doesn't stop what goes on in my head. i am also going through alot of depression with my husband leaving back to Iraq for another year. So please do judge me caue i have been bad. I am just trying to find a way to stop the brain from telling me food all the time. is there a drug out there or something to stop it in my mind. i have tried distracting myself it doesn't help.:( anyone out here have this problem?

Yep, love my bread and muffins. I'm trying to quit cold turkey, especially my snacking. So far that's my problem. I don't need to eat but I want to so I snack. I try to make them healthy Snacks but it's still more than I need to eat. My breads have been cut down to an occasional whole wheat tortilla or Arnold's sandwich thin but I have to eat them carefully. I was sick a couple of weeks ago and could only handle toast with butter but I've managed to stop that too. It's not easy but I figure if I bang my head into the brick wall a few more times it'll get through.

I have been doing so good and now for the past 6 weeks I am starving. I can tell I need a fill, have not had one in 5 months, but I think I've lost enough weight that it has loosened up. I can eat pretty much anything, bread, Pasta, pizza... and I was unable to eat these things since my surgery. No problem now (if I'm careful) But, I am enjoying it so much that my weight loss has pretty much stopped. I haven't gained either but it is still discouraging. It is hard and then with all the emotional stuff on top of it all (your husband leaving) that makes it even harder. Wish I had a magic answer for you... Just keep doing your best and think about the end result! Best of luck to you!

I am 7 days pre-op and have been in depression since my surgery..I wish I would have not gotten it..there is a lot I did not find out until after I was banded...I am just know hearing about thus stuck thing...that scares the hell out of me...I think will never eat anything other than tuna and yogurt out of fear this will happen to me...bread is my favorite food I had no idea i would have to give it up completely...I thought this band was just about portion sizes not being deprived....what have I done to myself?

It's awful to feel alone. Have you considered going to a food Addicts Anonymous meeting? There are even online meetings. Www.foodaddictsanonymous.org

You bet I had problems. So I learned not to eat it. You to will get by without it.

Remember: That flour, and Water turns to glue.

That Glue will forever stick to you.

Sorry to hear you're having issues. Maybe the combination of bread + a compact meat isn't most ideal. Hope things get better.

I have always loved bread too..... I have some wheat issues, so I don't eat it a lot, but I find that these work for me: Arnolds (Orrowheat) Sandwich Thins. They come in a few flavors, and you can definitely eat it with a burger.

I usually make a nice sandwich though...... sandwich thin with a sprinkle of red wine vinegar and a smattering of olive oil, then I add some lunch meat, a slice of cheese, and a stack of lettuce. If the bread is somewhat moist from the oil/vinegar & lettuce, it seems to go down better.

Gooey white bread? Never, ever goes down nicely.....

I've even used these sandwich thins as grilled cheese...... super yum!

I also will use a tender chicken breast, a slice of pepper jack and romaine lettuce for a nice chicken sammy!

Instead of pining for products you can't eat anymore, start looking for the ones that you CAN! You'll be a lot happier :)

xxxoo

OMG!!! I feel your pain! I was so upset when I found out I couldn't tolerate bread! I know it sucks I miss Bagels most of all. Somehow I found a way to accept(I know it may sound weird but why fight it?)not eating the bread and it hasn't been so painful

I hope that helps!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
