First fill received and I am on my way!

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill today and now have 5.4cc in my 14cc band. So far I do not feel all that different but that is not unusual. Every step gets me closer to the goal and for that I am satisfied. I have my 2nd fill scheduled for May 2nd. Nothing like going in for a fill on my birthday! But on the other hand, what a nice gift to give myself. :)

Hi was your fill painful. I watched some fills on youtube and the needle looks HUGE! I'm not that concerned about the actualy surgery, but the fills are having me biting my nails. Did you get a numbing agent. What should I expect?

Jennifer....I have heard that the numbing shots are painful and if you think about it....why get a shot you can feel to get a shot you can't feel? Either way you are going to get a shot you can feel so ya might just as well go for it. I am glad my office does not do a numbing shot first. There was hardly any pain at all. It was simply just a needle poke and after that, nothing painful at all. The worst for me was the 3 sips of barium and even that was not terrible.

Let's just say the not knowing and the stress of anticipating the first fill was way way way worse then the actual experience. You would do just fine, I am sure!

Fills are easy to work yourself up over but aren't bad at all, like Elizabeth said. I've had three total and I still get a little anxious about them but they don't hurt. My office will do a numbing shot first, if you want one but I have never done that. I also don't have to drink barium afterwards. They do a fill, I sit up and drink some Water and make sure it's all going down. If she needs to take some out, she will. If not, then she takes the needle out and I'm done. It seriously takes a few minutes. Don't be scared :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
