Does anyone else experience this?

Recommended Posts

I know this might sound crazy, but I have been noticing lately that without food to "stuff" down my emotions, I often lie awake at night thinking of sad memories from my past, many that I haven't thought of in years. It almost feels like I'm a volcano and all the negative memories that have been deep inside me are now erupting to the surface. It's really bizarre, and I never had this before I was banded.

Anyone else experience this after banding or am I the only nutcase? I haven't gotten a chance to talk to my therapist about this yet because she's out sick., but I wanted to see if anyone else out there had a similar experience.

I actually just posted something similar. I feel mad, even angry at things that happened in the past and that I had somewhat overcome. Now I feel like I am back to square one with some of these things. It's so bad, I feel that I want "revenge"somehow. Not anything horrible, more like I want that person to feel the pain they caused. I don't have any advice (that's why I joined this), but if I get some, I will let you know. If you learn something, please let me know. I don't want to feel like this. The lap band is an amazing experience and I want to feel that.

It might be hormone related. Hormones are fat-stored, so your body tends to make excess hormones to accomodate for beign overweight..but the excess hormones hid ein faat tissue. As you lose fat tissue, your body is still making extra that now circulate in your blood until it figures out your levels are too high and starts making less. My therapist warned me of this an I've alreay noticed some fierce mood swings.

Sorry for typos, my cats have messed up my keyboards. On my brand new laptop.

In the first couple months after I was banded, I have volcano-like emotions at times. I agree with the hormone thing, but I also think that we are pretty raw emotionally and some things would set me off into an hour of tears. It was kind of like PMS....

Was there anything you did that made it easier? I understand with the emotionally raw that I have to work out that with myself.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
