Post Op Diet question

I know I have to be on Clear Liquids for first two weeks but I'm wondering ~ do I drink liquids throughout the day those first two weeks? Or do I have to have the liquids as if I were eating 6 small meals ? Maybe a dumb question but wanna be sure I'm doing this right when time comes :0/

Hello Isabella....from your post it seems that you have not had the surgery yet. i do not know how long it is until you are having it but you should meet with a certified dietian before the surgery. After the surgery is when they give you all of the information (at least for me) I believe you are just to be sipping on clear liquids throughout the day at first, this is going to prevent vomiting and also help you to stay hydrated. they discourage straws d/t gas.

A lot of people say they don't even feel like that. Your surgeon will decide when you are ready to progress, i am sure they are all different. I also suggest that you get all of your shopping before the surgery because as you can imagine you are not going to want to come home and shop or send someone out to do it. you need all of the support you can get!! i got this list off of a website of common things people get and tolerate: tea, non-acidic juice, sport drinks, chicken broth/bouillon, beef broth/bouillon, skim milk, low-fat yogurt, diet Jell-O, sugar-free pudding, Protein Powder, chewable Tums, and chewable Multivitamins.< /span>

I hope this helps and feel free to ask more questions! you need to 100% before getting on this train-believe me...i dont think i was ready.

Hi and good luck to you! Carrie is right, it is liquids throughout the day to stay hydrated. Good luck with everything and know we are here if you have any concerns and your doctor isn't available!

My plan says not to separate drinks and "meals" (clear broth, jell-o) during the Clear Liquids stage. HTH!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
