Second fill onThursday

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill three weeks ago. It was 4cc in a 10cc lap band. My Dr. told me I would definitely feel restriction. I didn't and have since gained a pound. Now on Thursday I am scheduled to get my second fill.

Not that my Dr. Will listen to me, but how much more fill should I seek to get? I don't want to have to get a bunch of small fills to get restriction.

I know everyone is different, but what should I hope to get? Is another 2cc at one time too much? What will help my Dr. realize I need more fill?

Funny you should ask. I had my 2nd fill today.

I was banded 1/31. Had my 1st fill 4 weeks later, 4cc. Cant say I felt a lot of restriction, but I did from time to time. Got stuck a few times. learned my lesson about chewing and swallowing.

Today, 2 months from being banded, I got my 2nd fill of 2cc's. Too early to tell a difference. My Dr. has me back on liquids for 36hrs after a fill.

So that makes 6cc's total.

You never know what will be the right spot for you. Listen to your body and when you can go 4-5 hours without being hungry then you are good. Don't look for "restriction" and for it to stop you from eating, because that won't happen.

yeah, there is no way of knowing what your body can handle.

i have a 10cc band and after 3 years, i only have 4.25cc's in my band. i can't tolerate anything more.

my fills were all done under xray but i've heard of some drinking Water while getting filled and the doc can tell by the sounds in your stomach if the Water isn't flowing thru the band properly?

just remember... your doctor isn't trying to hinder your weight loss. he's there to help you in a safe and healthy way!

I go for my second fill on Monday only 2 weeks from my port revision where I got 3.5 ccs and a little restriction. Haven't lost any more weight since a week after surgery Feb 1st...FRUSTRATING! I'm not gaining either but exercising almost every day!

Had my 2nd fill this week as well and was only given 1cc, giving me a total of about 5 in the band. It was definately tight enough that I had my first stuck experience (which was AWFUL). Don't know how much of a difference it will make, but it's the first time I actually feel 'restricted' if you will. There's no standard fill amount, so I think it's safer to take it slow and work your way up. I know it's frustrating, especially if you're self pay, but from reading about the experiences of others I think it's worth it in the end...

Ugh!

I just went to the Dr. He told me my original fill was 4 cc but some had leaked out and now I only had 3.2 left. He would only add 1 cc - which I am sure is the right thing to do (Dr. Knows best). That said, I am now at 4.2 - no major fill increase from my original fill.

Bummer. Three more weeks until another fill.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
