One week post op>>>>Could this be real?

Recommended Posts

I was banded March 22, and I feel great!! I was pretty much walking as soon as I got out of surgery so gas pain wasn"t to bad. My bandages came off the other day and 4 out of my 5 scars look like a tiny scratch and the "big one" is only about a 1/2 inch long. :D I do have a question, is it normal to feel restriction already? I can't eat more than 3-4 oz at a time. I love my decision to be banded!!

Yes, normal, though it is probably restriction due to swelling from surgery. It usually dies off within a few weeks though some of it may stick. I haven't had a fill and have awesome restriction :)

Good luck.

Sammi

I just e-mailed my doctor this morning on this issue. The restriction feel is from surgery and the area adjacent to the band healing. Not all patients get it, but if you've got it, enjoy it. The long term restriction will come after the first fill, which is 4-6 weeks post-op.

Good luck to you. I was banded 3/19 - I've lost 30 lbs since I went on the pre-op diet, and I wake up feeling better every day. There is a lovely park near my home that I walk around, and I truly feel blessed. I'll put you in my prayers for a successful surgery.

As a wise man once said: "May you have fair winds and following seas".

I have restriction already too. 3.5 weeks post op. I know my doc filled my band though a little. I consider myself a lucky one. Wish everyone could have the same. Best wishes to you all!

I don't know if I have restriction but I eat like I do. I haven't had a fill yet either and really am not hungry and haven't been since surgery.

I'm 3

Months and some change post op. I still have restriction from surgery and I am very happy for it. I have no fill, and though my weight loss is slower than others, I have no plans to get one as long as I am losing ( my doc doesn't want to give one if I am losing either

Swelling after surgery can cause some restriction. But maybe also your doctor gave you a fill during surgery? This sometimes happens.

Enjoy the restriction while it lasts. This is a great way to jump start your weight loss journey :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
