How long did you have to wait for approval on average?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to the site. I have decided that the band is the choice for me and now that I have, I was told I have to go through a six month doctor supervised diet before they will give me a consultation. I was sent a check list. I wanted to know if anyone else had to go through this wait and about how long on average.

I am excited but wish I didn't have to stay in my fat suit for another six months or more. I was diagnosed with PCOS and it has been difficult to lose the post baby weight from the last child. I have tried everything and met once with a dietician, la weight loss, nutrisystem, jenny craig, working out 2hrs day, and Protein Shakes. Everytime I attempt to lose I gain so I know this is my last resort but now I find out I have to go through another six months of dieting.

I have my first appointment with the dietician on Tue.

Nice to meet you all. This is a good site with alot of information. Thankyou all for sharing.

Welcome. I also had to do the 6 month diet thing and Psych eval. I know it seems like a long time but it really does go fast. I was not happy I had to do it either, wanted to start right away on the new me. But I took that time and now I am better prepared on what it yet to come. I am currently waiting on Insurance Approval now. I'm hoping in a week will hear. It was turned in a week ago today. So excited and hoping April will be my month. Congrats on your choice. And Welcome again.

Welcome! I'm pretty new myself, but have found a lot of great information on the sight and a lot of support! I had to go through the same nutritional classes for 6 months, well actually just 4 months. The first visit was a one on one and the last visit with my surgeon counts as the last month. I also had to have a psych evaluation, clearance from a heart doctor and lung doctor. Best of luck to you! Teagirl is right, it really does go by really fast. I think the longest has been this past month.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
