Anyone else practice?

Recommended Posts

I have yet to be banded. Sometimes i practice chewing and chewing and chewing and then wonder to myself "would that of got stuck?". Like last night we grilled pork chops and they were so dry they were like little hockey pucks. I had a hard time thinking i could eat them banded. Anyone else practice chewing and eating slow and taking small bites? I have found just by doing this i eat less bc im the last one done and i dont like to be at the table alone. Lol.

No but definitely wise! I still have trouble chewing/slowing down. It can't hurt to get the hang of it beforehand.

I'll be honest, I didn't practice at all. Right now I am still on my liquid diet phase so the only thing I chew are my chewable vitamins lol. I am a little nervous about eating whole foods eventually but I'm hoping I can get through it!

I practice the liquids thing. I love to drink while I eat, and am one of those people who need 15 refills on my tea during dinner, so I have been practicing eating without anything to drink, then waiting 30 min after I eat, then taking little sips all the rest of the time. It has been a real trial for me, im glad I started early, so when Im banded, it will be one less thing to think about!

I did ! , and when I eat now I still practise chewing it all up to nothing, so it can't get stuck.

As far as the dry stuff. I could never eat that, It has to be moist or it would really get stuck. If you could swallow it.

OMG it's sooooo funny you say that. i thought i was the only one who did this. i start my liquid diet on may 9th, surgery is may 20th, so i plan on the week before the liquid diet practicing chewing. that sounds so crazy, but i am deathly afraid of getting stuck or PB'ing, so if i can prevent it, well then i'm going to. LOL

I did'nt really practice chewing but I've notices that I don't eat as much salty food. The only time I have an issue not drinking while eating is if I'm eating as someone elses house and the food is salty.

Just this evening I practiced cutting my meat into tiny pieces, Putting my fork down between bites and chewing at leaqst 25 times. I come from a family that eats LOTS and eats fast. I figure the more I practice now, the easier it will be later. I am also starting to measure and weigh my food so I get an idea of what a normal serving size really is.

I have been practicing all of the above mentioned things since my pysch eval. Still having problems with the slow eating, the drinking with meals has been fairly easy. I still get Water with my meal in case I am eating something spicy. I will never be one to put my fork down between bites, but at least I never try to stuff two bites in my mouth at once.

Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
