Mine fell off in it's own after about four weeks. When it itched I rubbed a tiny amount if baby oil around it and that helped.

ah bummer, i was told that i couldn't get them wet so i can't shower until they come off. which isn't an easy thing to deal with. esp for the people around me! :-)

also, one more newbie question that i haven't been able to get an answer to. will i ever be able to drink coffee again? i used to drink it first thing out of bed and i'm having such a hard time getting up without it. i love coffee and really miss it. obviously, while i'm in this early phase i should stay away from it, but later when i'm at the food stage can i add coffee back in?

2 of my steristrips came of a week after surgery. The last 1 (my bellybutton) came off 3 weeks after surgery. It was recommended to me to put neosporin on the incision sites after the bandages came off.

I am 3 weeks post op and drink a cup of coffee everyday. I was told by my doctor it was okay. I haven't had any problems.

I had surgery on a Friday and was told I could shower on the following Monday. The strips just fell off on their own after about a week or so. I asked my dr. Thurs. about caffeine and he said it was fine. I drink a cup every morning as well.

I could shower every day. In my case, I could take off the strips after one week because, unless there was a problem, I did not have to go to my one week post-op appointment. (I live in a different town than my surg) They just made sure I knew the proper way to remove them and I had no problems. You may want to call someone at the surg. office to double check about the shower. I think they may have told me not to take a bath, but shower was fine.

coffee was ok'ed for me as well. I pretty much drink it daily.

good news re coffee and showers. thanks guys!

You are already going to have a long "no-no list", so why deprive yourself of coffee and showers biggrin.gif

a word of caution on the shower ...... don't make it too hot or take a long one..... mine wore me out for a very long time when I was new post-op. I would smell better, but was exhausted from a simple shower.

I didn't have any strips or surgical tape. I was able to shower the next day also. My stitches are on the inside and my doctor sealed the outside puncture wounds with medical super glue. Anyone else had this?

Mine is exactly the same. Interior stitches and super glue exterior.

I had superglue and steri-strips. I could shower but not take a bath. I also could not scrub them. They needed to just come off on their own.

If you truly cannot get them wet, but need a shower, you can probably tape a plastic baggie over the top of them to keep them dry while you take a quick shower.

Caffeine seems to be different according to the doctor. Mine doesn't have a problem with it. I have one or two cups of coffee a day.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
