I too was banded on 12/20/08 and down 90 pds with NO FILLS. I was so glad to see that I am not the only one with NO FILLS. I am and have always been very comfortable with no fills and did not want to mess up what is going so well. I feel fantastic and there are several other people that were banded by Dr. Atkinson in Las Vegas that have had no fills with losing over 100 pds also. I feel very fortunate to be in this position with not having to play around with getting filled/unfilled repeatedly. My main focus has been controlling the mind hunger and portions and I do still fight the head demons when I get idle on weekends that rain or cannot get outside to do yard work. I thank God every day for the band and what it has done for me. Congrats to everybody on here that is doing well and for the ones that are not, you will get on the right track too, sometimes it takes a little longer for some people to figure this out.

Hey guys i just wanted to say thank god for the lap band i was banded on july 7th 2010 and as of march 2nd im down from 340 lbs to 189 lbs with no fills the best choice i ever made was to get this well i just wanted to share my story i hope all you guys gt great results to ---Brian

Hey Brian...thanks for the story! I feel encouraged hearing what you said. I am 6'2, 340 as of yesterday (the day I received my band). I really want to be around the 200 pound mark in a year. I keep seeing people talk about minimal weight loss so far and it's made me nervous. I want instant results of course. lol. Can you tell me what you've done to be so successful? Congrats and thank you again!!!!

Steven

I was just banded 3/2 and I have not had a fill yet. I am going in 4/12 for my first fill and I feel like I need it even though I have lost 20 lbs already. Did you guys ever have one fill and than never needed another one? or you just never had any fills since the band was put in?

That is so awesome - Way to GO!!! I am so excited to hear of all of you who have done this with no fills. I have a very very conservative doctor. I was banded on 2/7/11 and he won't even see me again until the middle of May and then will determine whether i need a fill or not. I have been very very worried about that, but now see that it is possible to lose without a fill. Thanks so much for sharing - i feel much more confident now.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
