I WANT THIS USELESS LAP BAND REMOVED !!!!

Recommended Posts

Getting away from the Grammar lessons and back to Shirley….I don't think it was clear in her original post to everyone that her band had burst (Shirley correct me if I'm wrong) and she can't seem to get any help from her surgeon. Shirley I know that you had some things that you were going to try to resolve your problem let us know how things are going. Take Care

Yep I made it clear that the Dr. said he blew the band in the office.

YAY* Shirley! Glad to hear you are on your way to better health. Your attitude about being on liquids for the next 2 weeks is great. You have my best wishes for a successful journey!

~Fran

*Yes, I meant to type in all caps. "YAY" is an exclamation and I wanted Shirley to get my message. I hope that I proofed my post to the satisfaction of others (not really ;) , just being sarcastic -- in case you didn't get it.). I say again ...

YAY! Shirley!

Oh wow Shirley, that is GREAT NEWS! I'm truly happy to hear that your band is probably in good condition and you are back on track. You must feel SO MUCH better!

I'm glad also that you are strong enough not to let unfeeling people get you down. (Just goes to show that no amount of education can teach human compassion huh?)

I'm so happy for you, Shirley. I'm sure you were stressed to the max and you must be one tough cookie to keep it from beating you down.

Here are links for a tutorial on setting up the ticker and the site where you get one,,they have quite a few to choose from.

Good luck and look forward to seeing how things progress for you!

Thanks ! When I get weighed by my Dr. "Somewhere in the future..." Then I will set the ticker up.

It was very hard, and the stress with not knowing if you have to have surgery, and moving " finding a new surgeon, somewhere to go for fills even".

The SURGEON NOT WANTING TO SEE ME !!!!! And the B.S. that the Surgeon put down on the post op notes.. Well, I couldn't believe it. Talk about a rip off artist.. The head people got those notes at HURLEY,,,,,,, it's know wonder they didn't want to see me. "They said we only want success stories! I told them I lost over 120lbs. what do you call that?" She said I wonder why he doesn't have your weight loss History recorded. So he was really unprofessional in his follow up care. This was a Major Headache.

Then,,, finding a place "HURLEY BARIATRIC CENTER , but! Being a outsider would they be able to convince Surgeon to see me.

That took a good 6 months....

Then almost in a Flash something happened. About 10 minutes after I posted, I got a phone call from Hurley, and they said The P.A. who does the fills and Fluoroscope Say's it's your lucky day ! Be here Thursday morning at 9:00 A.M.. I said I'll be there. The rest is now History, and it feels G R E A T ! to be filled.

Thank You, Shirley.

That is soooooo true ! You can go back and fourth all day long about the spelling lesson.:P But it's not exactly what this site is about.

It's a LAP BAND SITE , Not a SPELLING BEE SITE ! So it can go back and fourth, it still doesn't matter all that much to me.

I mean yes, If my posts get under your skin, like loose vs lose? Then sure I'm sorry about that, but GET OVER IT! "yes I was speaking out."

But like I've said,, I believe that most of these people are just regular folks. I know I'm no Dr.... So if I screw it up,, It's my problem. You don't like or approve of what I have to say! Then don't read it.

Thanks, Shirley.

Well Shirley in my grade book  you get an "A+" lol. I'm glad to hear that everything is working out. You will see more loss now that you are filled and are not as stressed out. Keep us updated..

Everyone let’s not forget that we all came to this site in the beginning for the same reasons. People on this site can relate to what we are going through in regards to being overweight and needing help. We have outsiders that have condemned us enough on a daily basis no need to do it to each other. Let’s support each other weather we agree or not with something that has been said. A lot of us (especially newbies, banders with complications and new banders) are already down let’s not kick them.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
