Calling all March Bansters

Recommended Posts

I don't have a date yet, but they said it will be in March. Just waiting on the insurance company to go through their routine and send back and approval. I'm hoping to hear something this week.

I've been reading about many who are having to do a liquid diet 2 weeks pre surgery. My surgeon has me on the South Beach Phase one two weeks before. Has anyone else had to do this? Just curious. It's not so bad but 2 weeks is about as far as I could go with so much Protein and no starch or fruit AT ALL.

I am VERY excited and anxious to get this done. I've been jumping through hoops for the insurance company for 4 months now. Glad to be this close, finally!

My surgery date is mar 11. my emotions are all over. I think i am more worried about things going wrong..band slippeage, flipped port. because i am a self pay and i can't just keep going in to fix if something goes wrong.

Hi-We share the same surgery date as well as being self-pay. I have worried about the same things. Does your Dr. offer cash pay insurance called BLIS? It's "insurance" to cover in the event of any of the above occurrences.

Do you have a pre-op diet to follow before surgery? I am on day 5 and so far so good.

Good luck on your journey, Here's to thinner and healthier tomorrow's :D .

My surgery is 3/21 also. Met with the dietician tonight. The only thing I'm nervous about is NOT losing the required 10lbs during my 2 week liquid diet. I already eat less than 1200 calories a day, which includes a Protein shake every morning. Hopefully my body will respond. I'm also planning to walk a mile on each of my breaks at work.

Good luck everyone!

Well I am being Banded on March 11th. I am on a two week preop diet which includes two shakes and Soup for dinner. I am on day 6 and I have to say that I am sick of soup and shakes. However, I havent cheated. I tend to be a rule follower and my doctor has said that he has started surgeries to see that the liver was too large and had to reschedule for the safety of the patient. On a good note I am down 10 pounds since I started. As it gets closer I think that I will become more nervous because I have never really had surgery but I feel confident in my doctor. Best of luck to each of you.

I am scheduled for March 31st . I have been trying to have one shake a day to get accustomed to a different way of eating. They are not all that bad. Have you tried any of the fruit blast ones? I like the tropical mango, something different than the usual chocolate or vanilla. I have also added different flavorings to the vanilla-like cherry or lime. Great for something different to drink. Also put some unflavored Gelatin in and put in fridge-more like a mousse and I felt like I was eating something rather than drinking. My doctor said all of the substitions, changes are fine-Best of luck to all of the MARCHing Bandsters.:D

I've found that putting a scoop of Protein powder in instant pudding mix is delicious. If you want to make it even better, add a scoop of lite cool whip when you make it. It tastes just like chocolate mousse.

March 7th for me, had to go today for clearance from PCP and did labs and chest x-rays at the same time. I go Wednesday for hospital pre-op. It seems like it's all happening quickly now. My family is supporting me 100% which makes it much easier. My wife has plans to modify the way she eats and cooks for us all which is a big deal for me. It will definitely be a great benefit for me to have the right foods prepared and not be tempted by the carb rich foods I have craved in the past. Good luck to all of the March Bandsters.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
